What's the right polarity?

I am changing the ignition coil on my 79 620 and need to double check my work. I placed the BW wire on the + and L on the - . Is this the correct polarity for the IC?

It's the correct polarity for the coil.

 

 

Why change the coil??? they never go bad. If your replacing the stock one with some after market thing, don't throw the stock one away.

This is one thing I’ll never argue, I blew a year old accel super stock and replaced it with a used ‘78 200sx unit. It’s been two years without a hiccup.

My stock one went bad last year, I didn't have another factory original to replace it. True to form the aftermarket only lasted a year. I am just making sure I'm not causing more failure.

Hard to believe coils go bad .

I only change them out cause they look cooler.(accel Supecoil!!!)

 

key is buy the correct coil for your application.

Running a point coil witout a ballast will destroy them over time

they do go bad once in awhile.  Since I had my Datsun 510 for like 16 years, it went bad like 10 years ago.
