Sunshine521
1969 521 with a L18 engine. Truck has been sitting for about 7 months due to other projects. Fired it up and it idled fine but as soon as I give it gas it dies almost instantly but sometimes it flutters before dying out. Any ideas on why this is happening. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Probably the gas got stale from sitting. Does your carb have those two tubes with the oval cut openings??? Spray a bunch of carb cleaner down one of them. This will mix carb cleaner with the gas in the float chamber. Try starting and running this to get it to circulate and dissolve and deposits inside. 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
You could get it to stay running on carb cleaner too. If it stays running you have your answer that you have a fuel issue. 1 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
Accelerator pump could be clogged/not squirting any fuel. If you have a lean idle, it might be dying from fuel starvation. 1 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Our gas may be better up here. I have 5 year old gas mix for my weed eater. Fires up every spring. 1 Quote Link to comment
