I gave a look at your 620, it's very nice. I will give a look to CFR Rinkens, prices seems to be more or less similar to the one I've found.

I'm in contact with the owner of this 620. He seems to have a great experience of 620 as he owns 3 of them.

He gave me an address of a professional of classic cars in his town, who could possibly evaluate the car and arrange the import (https://www.denwerks.com/). I'm waiting for new pictures to decide if i go further.

Yesterday I was thinking about putting extra money in the car to have it checked and modified locally in USA. I'm not sure if it's a good idea because of the distance : I will need to be very confident in the professional. Do you have an opinion?

A question regarding painting: what could be the price of a complete painting for a 620 in USA ?

Painting in the US is very expensive for a high quality job, and there are a lot of shady painters who will rip you off. I wouldn't recommend having it done here unless you're willing to pay a well-known restoration shop and then you're looking at $10,000+

...yep...not sure if that's a good idea either. From my own experience, I like to see the progress of the build, get to know the mechanics or fabricator or painter. Remember...Very difficult to redo a fuck up job or som

To me it sounds like you are making a complicated job more complicated!

I would speak to a shipping company then agree with yourself a budget.

Then i'd get hunting and find the right car.

Once you have it your only priority is getting to France! Worry about painting after.

There are trucks around closer to you though. I know Will (TheDatMan) in the uk has a couple that could be for sale if you message him.

He isn't advertising as such so you might want to start a conversation first.

Don't worry, I've taken contacts for the shipping. I was talking about painting because I thought that it could be cheaper in USA but it seems not to be the case.

I gave a look to the UK market but I didn't find anything.

I tried to find TheDatMan but I can't find him...

Hello,

What do you think about this one?

https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lgb/cto/d/1979-datsun-king-cab/6487155311.html

Do you think the price is justified ? I saw it last week and the prce was $ 1 000 higher. I think price could be discussed.

All original? Original white truck? But the body color doesn't match the engine bay...

I'm not sure he's a liar, probably not a specialist though (but who am I to judge? ;-) )

I've sent questions and quick answer:

- which engine is it?
- 5-speed?

- disc brakes?
- elecrtonic ignition?

- you say original white truck : why is the body color doesn't match the engine bay?

-His answer :

Original engine and transmission therefore;
L20, 4 speed, disc front, I don't know what electronic ignition is but it has distributor cap...

Originally a white truck but I repainted in a brighter white.

The way the ad is worded one has to be able to read between the lines as he didn't tell tell the whole story, he should have mentioned respray in the ad, but he did say "original white truck", I would not deal with the guy, if he is willing to word stuff this way it is hard to tell what other stuff is worded the same way(can have more than one meaning)

I would not buy anything without someone inspecting what you are going to buy that knows what they are doing or at least knows Datsuns.

Are them bucket seats stock?

Is that shift lever stock?

He says it passes smog(but what does it take to get it too pass, does he take it to someone that specializes in getting vehicles thru smog?), and he will pay for a smog check, well that is the law in California, the law says he has to supply this passing smog test to sell it in CA(I believe that is the law down there).

I would look somewhere else other than in CA, everything is expensive in CA(at least southern CA), it's an alright place to visit, but I would not want to live there.

I agree it seems strange. I asked why he's selling it. It's always interesting to see the answer to this simple question.

I will probably look for something else, less shiny is sometimes better.

I've seen one much more cheaper in Portland but it's an automatic and I'm afraid of it because I understood it's pretty rare. So if there is a problem with it, I'm afraid that it would be impossible to find spare parts. Any opinion ?

By the way, of course I won't buy without a complete inspection, by a professional or Datsun Lover!

...prolly pays someone 200.00 but then when its the buyers turn to smog may be SOL....next.

LOL

My last questions:

- Why are you selling it ?
- Is it rust free ?
- Are the tires in good condition ?
- Do you have spare parts you will give with it ?

- Is it possible to have pictures of the front and the bed ? (HD if possible)

His answer :

Dude,  it's rust free,  I don't need it ote drive it much,  I'm buying a Porsche.   Why don't you cone with 8k and see it live in high deff

I love this guy! He's buying a Porsche, why do I need to question him? The answer is obvious : NEXT !!!

What do you think about this one in Salem ?

https://salem.craigslist.org/cto/d/datsun-king-cab-pick-up/6547727032.html

The owner said that they "bought and fixed up 'Peanut' partly for the love of 620's [we have three], and partly to earn money to put into one of the other 620's".

They seem to be more involved then the dude in CA.

They gave me a professional contact for inspection if needed.
