PercyTheAce
So I bought a 1980 210 wagon and the drivers side seatbelt is in less than safe condition. I drove the car home with the seatbelt lazily drooped over me since it was stuck all the way out and the belt itself is in tatters. So my question is what possible alternatives do I have to put in and keep a "stock" look. It's damn near impossible to source original ones online either new or used, so are there any alternatives that would fit inside the panelling. (720?200sx?310?) pictures of my situation soon to come... Quote Link to comment
MikeRL411
Go to any local RV or Dune Buggy [or possibly early VW] shop and say a prayer ! Note that some early 67 or 70s Datsuns had narrower than current standard seat belt widths. Quote Link to comment
KELMO
What year is your 210, and what interior color? I may have a set around here somewhere. Quote Link to comment
PercyTheAce
1980 wagon, black interior Quote Link to comment
KELMO
The ones I (may) have would be blue and out of a Sedan. The catalog I have seems to show they would work for Sedan or Wagon. Hope to do some looking this afternoon. If I do have them will PM some pics and we can go from there. Quote Link to comment
Hawaiian620
I'm in the same boat with my driver's side belt. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
There are lots of options on ebay? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Retractable-Front-Shoulder-Seat-Belt-Jeep-CJ-YJ-Wrangler-82-95-3-Point-2PC/122749807012?epid=14007072925&hash=item1c947569a4:g:9usAAOSwmudaAdyh&vxp=mtr Quote Link to comment
Hawaiian620
The 210 uses the same belts as a wrangler? That'll give lots of options. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If you have light fuzz run it quickly over a lighter flame and the threads will shrivel up and shrink. Try Armor-all to lube it and prevent fraying. Quote Link to comment
carterb
RetroBelt and Andover have lots of options as well - https://www.retrobelt.com/and http://www.andoauto.com/ I just installed a set of RetroBelt retractable seatbelts in my bluebird coupe. --carter Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
And it looks a heckuva lot like a B210 belt. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
And I'm not saying the B210 uses the exact same belts as a Jeep Wrangler. I'm saying the Jeep Wrangler uses a fairly generic belt that can be used in almost anything,. B) Quote Link to comment

My biggest problem Is finding a mechanism that is small enough to fit in the shallow b pillar and under the plastic cover. Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Mines a 210 and not a b210. Ah. I still stand by the statement though. The 1200 wiki shows that they’re extremely different. In what way? My biggest problem Is finding a mechanism that is small enough to fit in the shallow b pillar and under the plastic cover. I'm probably a bad person to ask because I will just get something close-ish and make it fit... ^_^ 1 Quote Link to comment
PercyTheAce
In what way? It shows two seperate retractors for the shoulder and lap belts Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
It shows two seperate retractors for the shoulder and lap belts So B210 is dual and 210 is single? I've seen the B210 both ways depending on year. And if yours is single, then the aftermarket options seem like a no brainer? Quote Link to comment

datsunfreak
Early B210 is definitely dual, might be the later B210 that went single? FWIW, my '75 was dual, my '78 was single. It used to be the go to thing when a late B210 hit the junkyard here to get the seat belts and brake booster, as both were a great fit in a 510. ^_^ 1 Quote Link to comment

And if yours is single, then the aftermarket options seem like a no brainer? My biggest issue is the mounting points and something that fits in the b pillar. The current retractor lays flatter than most since the b pillar is so shallow. I’m gonna look into the Jeep belts though and see if they fit Quote Link to comment
Hawaiian620
Bumping an old thread since I'm working on getting new belts and this thread already has good info. My 81 210 has a decent size retractor. I'm thinking these cj belts will work. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fit-for-Jeep-CJ-YJ-Wrangler-1982-95-Universal-3-Point-Retractable-Seat-Belts-X2-/383843731252?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0 Edited March 15, 2022 by Hawaiian620 Quote Link to comment

Hawaiian620
Got the drivers side in. Only one bolt holds it in, instead of a bolt and a screw. Seems to hold good. Quote Link to comment
Hawaiian620
Sorry for the multiple post. Would only allow two pictures per post even after resizing. Thanks everyone for the input! I might improve on the mounting later, but so far it seems good. 1 Quote Link to comment
