1970 S30 Nissan FairladyZ "S30 LDY"

Recommended Posts

Installed the fuel rail last night and hooked the AC belt back up.  Loving how it is turning out.  My carb insulators arrived today so I hope to get the carbs and heat shield mounted and on the car.  So far I need to finish the following and then it should be ready to put on the ground and fire up.  CAN'T WAIT to hear it now with the triples and exhaust.

- mount carbs and finalize linkage

- remove factory choke cables

- figure out block breather and valve cover breather

- fill radiator with fluid

- change engine oil and filter

- bleed brakes

- adjust alignment to be somewhat straight and set ride height

- install strut tower bars

- install headlight covers

- replace headlight wiring harness

- rebuild headlight switch

- install finished tail panel and rear hatch (once finished)

The goal is to drive this car to Datslocos in Manteca on 5/18.

Because I have a new hatch coming I had to make sure I got the proper badges for the spoiler (432) I will be installing.  The following Nissan badge is not made and is unobtanium.  Used ones regularly trade for north of $500 when you can find them and that is with pitting/damage.  I am super thankful my car still adorns its original on the hatch but I did not want to risk removing it and using it on the spoiler.

Thankfully a couple of good friends care about the community and made a SUPER limited run of remakes that were preorder only.  Hung from vintage dashes commissioned the project and my friend Brian has a machine shop and made the badges.  Boy does it look good!!!

So last night while my wife was at the gym I was in charge of feeding the kids dinner so I took the liberty to use the dinner table to assemble my carbs!!!!!!!!!!!

Installed the air horns and tightened the manifold bolts from underneath the car.  What a pain but got it done.  I need to figure out how to keep the plug wires from contacting the throttle linkage.

So I have had new trim for the taillights for months but have been super nervous about pulling them apart to replace it.  I finally gathered enough courage to dive in and followed WoodworkerB's blog online.  I soaked them in super hot water and was slowly able to peel the lens from the backing.  Once the lens was off I broke off the old tabs to remove the trim.

Once apart I took the lenses to my friend Pavel to polish them using a couple different compounds.  The rear of this car is going to be AMAZING!!!

No "low carb" diet for that kid! : )

Beautiful work all through this thread.  I love how you continue to enjoy it as you make improvements.
