five1oh
Thanks Draker! These are the lights that will be going on the car. I was able to get a complete set that needed work from James and then sourced NOS lenses and one NOS frame from Craig. THANKS JAMES AND CRAIG!!! For as nice as this car is I can't put crappy parts on it. Needs to match the rest of the car. Looking forward to the new look. Need to clean up the center garnish and the left frame along with my JDM grill. I have some work to do for sure: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr 2 Quote Link to comment
five1oh
I know it has been a while (so much going on with family and work and covid blah blah blah). Because I am changing this car to a JDM spec sedan the biggest thing to do was swap out the wiring harness. While I had the interior out I decided to go through and clean things up before it went back together. Overall I did not have any issues other than some vinyl peeling away so I hit it with some more spray adhesive and got things buttoned down. I am still surprised at how clean this car turned out. I am going to miss it SOOO much! five1oh
Alright sorry for the hiatus from posting. Car was on jack stands for basically 5 months. five1oh
So my buddy Ralph talked me out of putting sedan taillights on the car which meant I needed to source a good set of coupe lights. The keeper James came to the rescue as always. Once I got them I went about cleaning up and putting new seals in them along with new paint. Turned out awesome and fit the car well (in terms of quality). Some minor pitting but the base is good and this would be an easy set to rechrome and make perfect if the future owner wanted to. five1oh
Next up was intalling the new coupe taillight supersonic bird badge without damaging the lights. five1oh
My buddy Ralph came over and helped me hook up taillights and get everything working (blinkers, brake, tail, parking lamp, flasher, etc). So happy! Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr After that I had to take it for a drive to make sure everything worked. Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Sadly tach didn't work, fuel gauge didn't work, oil pressure light stayed on, and wiper motor was on. 2 Quote Link to comment

five1oh
So because of how much time the car was in the air I realized I am too busy to finish it so I decided to take it to Fitted Garage in Sacramento to have them finish a bunch of small things.......what actually turned out to be very reasonable turned into a mess which you will see in a bit... The day I drove it up there: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr 2 Quote Link to comment

five1oh
First thing they did was put it in the air and send me some nice pics. five1oh
Then they did shift boot and then when they sent me pics of compression test things went sideways.... Cylinder 1: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Cylinder 2: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Cylinder 3: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Cylinder 4: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr So they figured it was head gasket so we tore the motor down to the block and they ended up finding scoring on the cylinder walls and other issues. The car ran perfectly for so long and never overheated OR used water or oil. It was the stongest motor I have ever had. I was super bummed 😞 Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Motor out: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr 1 Quote Link to comment
five1oh
Thankfully I had a fully build LZ22 that I picked up that I was planning to put in the coupe. Because I need to sell this car I decided it was the cheapest and quickest option to put it in the car. Red spent about $6k in parts alone building it and it only has less than 5k miles. Eric came down and picked the motor up from my house and swapped it into the car with all the nicest parts including my L20b front cover, intake, carbs, etc. etc. Specs on the motor are as follows: Z22e bottom end(pistons, rods, crank) New pistons(z22e stock diameter 88.5) New bearings New rings Nismo headgasket Arp head studs W53 head: — Complete rebuild of the head done at TEM in napa(new valve guides, lash pads, valves, valve springs and retainers, 3 angle valve job, and cam alignment) stock cam(u20) New l20b timing chains and guides New ka24e oil pump L16(510) oil pan L20b front timing cover Matchbox distributor Mikuni phh44's rebuilt and tuned by Josel Cobangbang New L20b clutch kit exedy Bottom end is a 100% factory rebuild to z22e specs. Before putting it in they ran the compression check. So good!!! datzenmike
Z22 pistons are 87mm from the factory. Over size are 87.5 and 88mm. The compression on a Z22 is about 8.4 but the smaller L head will bump it up, a lot. Quote Link to comment
five1oh
So now we are current. Last week Naveed shot pics for my Bring A Trailer ad........ I can't believe I am going to sell this car..... but it is necessary if I want to finish my skyline. Follow along. Once its listed I will let you know. I have had such an amazing time with this car with numerous miles and memorable trips. It is definitely bittersweet and by far the nicest 510 I have every built or owned.
