So I finally removed the carbs and put proper gaskets in between the manifold/isolaters/carbs and also installed a one way valve on my brake booster vacuum line.  I also drilled a hole in the mounting plate for the throttle cable and added a spring for the center linkage.  Josel will be over in the next hour for the final tune on my carbs!!!!!  Can't wait!!!  I also finally started one of the final pieces of the car by getting some plastic cut to fix my SSS center console.  More to come on that very soon...

So I semi-finished my trunk.  Got my battery tie down and battery box lid and finished the battery area.  I also cut my trunk carpet but you will see from the photos below I made an egregious error.......I forgot to measure the width and used my factory rubber mat as a template.  Unfortunately the rubber has shrunk a bit over the past 50 years so I cut the carpet too narrow.  I plan on getting another one eventually but this will have to do for now ?

Finished my heater box assembly.  I cleaned it up and painted it and put it in.  Then I set the center console in.  Looking good.  I should be finishing the center console soon as I got my pieces back from the plastic shop...

So I did some stuff on Saturday but was slacking when it came to pictures.......

I put the car up in the air for the last time before JCCS.  While up in the air I put in the new speedometer cable and topped off the transmission....hopefully my car will be leak free now.  I also cleaned off the inside of my rear wheels since the coilovers are leaking oil and getting them dirty.  I wish I could afford some new rear coilovers.  Hopefully one day soon.

When running the speedo cable I had to drill a massive hole in the firewall to fit the connection through.  Also it turns out my pedal box bracket runs squarely into the back of the speedometer.  I am actually quite surprised but I was able to drill a hole with a step drill bit and I managed to get it spot on.  While the gauges were out I replaced all the lights and swapped the headlight and wiper switch since I have them in the wrong position initially.  One other thing is that I received a new signal stalk and installed that and FINALLY hooked up the flasher can correctly.  My signals NOW WORK ? ................except the sequential part is not working yet ?

I guess I still have some diagnosing to do.....when I remove the covers they look brand new inside and I can hear the relay click.  I honestly believe the location of my battery and the distance the current has to travel from the trunk to the engine room to the signal stalk through the relay and back to the trunk may be the issue.  Will test another day but I am glad the wiring is getting there.

The pics I did get:

So I finally decided it was time to take a shot at fixing up my center console.  I was super nervous because there was a bunch of plastic missing and I was worried I would ruin it trying to weld it.  I picked up a plastic welder from Harbor Freight and decided to give it a go.  I started with removing the old wood covering on the base piece.  The base piece was cracked in half so I glue/welded it together and filled the 4 old switch holes someone drilled in it.  My console was cut up near the front and was missing the front panel.  Using pictures I had TAP Plastics cut out some pieces for me and made my own.  Once the missing sections were welded into place and the glove box was assembled I wrapped it in some vinyl wood wrap I picked up on eBay the shade is much lighter but the grain is the same and I am STOKED with how nice it came out.

Sure the welded parts could use some sanding but overall I am super HAPPY ?    Now to rob the shift boot of my hako console.......

Nice work!  How would you rate the Harbor Freight plastic welder?

I loved it. Easy to use and worked well. I am now confident to tackle more things in the future. As always I can get better with more use but it was very simple.

So two days before I left for JCCS I got a couple last minute things done.  I replaced the oil sending unit with one that works with a gauge (since I put the wrong one in previously - light type) and I sand blasted, painted, and installed a stock 510 radiator fan shroud to help with cooling at slower speeds or in traffic.

After the little fixes I decided to wash the car for the first time hoping it would still be clean when I arrived in Long Beach:

I just had to go for a spin now that my oil pressure gauge and speedometer worked.  I still need to hook the tach up but I DID test it and it works.  I blew the fuse because when testing it (looped circuit) I had it attached to the starter wire which only has power on cranking.  Will get it fixed soon.

So on Friday AM I got up at the crack of dawn, dropped my kids off at a friends so that she could take them to school.  I left Benicia at 650am to our meet up spot in San Jose off 101.  The first 70 miles went well and I was in traffic for a bit.  I arrived at 830am with the agreed meet time being 9am.  Once I got there I filled up the car and got some donuts for breakfast.

Naveed and Matt showed up at 9 and we were supposed to head out at 930.  By that time we heard Sergio and Daniel were on their way south so we decided to wait so we could all drive down together.  They arrived at around 950 and then filled up with gas as well.  When Sergio pulled out of the gas station his left rear brake started seizing up.  We hadn't even left yet and already an issue!  It was very minor though, we got his car up in the air and he adjusted the brake drum and it was good to go.  We left at about 1030am finally on our way south.

After about 10 miles my friend Naveed pulls off to the right side of the freeway.  (this isn't the first time I have been with him for this exact situation)  Turns out his Abflug front spoiler started coming off on his r32 GTR.  A quick zip tie fix and we were on our way again.  About 30 minutes later we exited the freeway and it turns out he was losing the other side of the spoiler and asked if I could carry it the rest of the way to Long Beach.  Obviously I obliged but it was super difficult to drive after that because the spoiler is also an underbody piece so it was super wide and kept creeping into my shifter which made it difficult to shift.
