But my dad said he wouldn't allow me to park it in the driveway so I bought a '49 chevy PU for my first car instead. 2 Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
If it was a down draft you would have the intake as a shield. SUs are the same they really need a sheet metal shield. Also you could make (or buy) 1/2" phenolic spacers to separate the carbs from the hot intake to reduce heat transfer. You have lots of room for this. A fuel return line. This just need a small orifice restriction so fuel pressure will build normally on the carburetor side. A return constantly circulates cool gas from the tank past the carburetors and returns the hot unused gas and any vapor bubbles to the tank. An added benefit is the tank contents are constantly being filtered too and removing sediment and any crap as you drive. All L20Bs have this to reduce/eliminate heat soak induced vapor lock and hard restart. The restriction could be cut off an L20B set up and shoved inside the return hose and is this size... Last is a cool air supply. No not those hideous after market things with the cone on the end. I mean air ducted properly from in front of the rad. Shame to cover or obstruct the view of those trumpets but... something. 2 Quote Link to comment
The Taterhead
“Red” has a thread on here somewhere with his graffitied 510. Although it hasn’t been updated in forever and I don’t remember if it’s in projects or the 510 section. Quote Link to comment

five1oh
Last month I took the 510 on another EPIC drive organized by Naveed. There was such an awesome mix of cars there including two of the best Z's in the Bay Area - James Nassty Z with an L28ET pushing over 500 wheel HP and Jeremy Gomez Yellow ZG themed car. I got to park my little bucket next to a Million dollar 300sl roadster........such a beautiful design although I prefer the gullwing...? It was a super nice day and had a great time ripping up the canyons. The next day I was super sore from clenching my body trying to hold on through the turns. Prior to the trip I replaced my rear coilovers and the car handles amazing now. As much as I love the fold down interior I am leaning towards getting some other seats to use when I want to flog the car. It handles so good but I get thrown around quite a bit. One other thing I need to fix soon is the gas tank filler mod.....the car doesn't look to good with fuel pouring out lol Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr 1 Quote Link to comment

I like my stock filler but it gets old.... So I mentioned I swapped out the rear coilovers but forgot to add pics. Unfortunately I couldn't find pics of the new ones that Red made me but here are the old.....they were SO bad! Also on my maiden voyage to the gas station I happened to pass this sweet green 510 in town. Turns out he was from Oakland and helping his brother. We exchanged info and he came with us on the Naveed drive mentioned above. Very cool car that James (the 510keeper) originally sold Billie Joe from Green Day. Turns out the owner Greg does video for Green Day and that is how he ended up with it. five1oh
So a couple weeks ago I finally got my new wheels. I have been working with love20bee for about 6 months sourcing and building a set of Riverside R101 to fit my car. After test fitting a couple wheels I finally got the right spec and color. They are 15x7.5 +19 with 185/55/15 tires. I sourced the center caps from Izanami Wheel and the stickers from dermadalton on IG; Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr 2 Quote Link to comment

five1oh
Took the 510 to Golden Week Kyusha Festival and got an award. So many awesome cars there......but wish there were more. five1oh
So I decided to Pivot. I LOVED the Riverside R101 wheels but missed the contrast I had with the Atara wheels so I decided to sell them. I feel that the wheels would look much better on a darker colored car. I did test fit one on my Z and they looked awesome. I was planning on keeping them but I met a new friend Ronnie that just purchased an OG 510 like the white car I bought. He saw the wheels on my car and had to have them so I sold them 😞 😞 . I was planning on keeping them but by selling them it will enable me to get some Watanabe's.... Ronnie drove his newly acquired 510 over to pick up the wheels so I had to do a mini photo shoot. His car is going to be SO nice. Congrats man! five1oh
Drove the 510 to Datslocos this year. Had a blast even though I had to drive home in the rain. Still don't have working windshield wipers so it was a little interesting but the car did well. On the way home I noticed my right front TC rod came loose a bit so I need to address that. I am supposed to be meeting up with Secret Factory this weekend to test fit some wheels so that should be exciting. five1oh
So I drove the 510 a ton on Saturday 🙂 On my way east to Sacramento (75 miles away) I stopped by my buddy Red's house to pick up the rear coilovers for my new '69 510 (check the ZPZ 046 build thread). I made it to Secret Factory at around 8:15am. While there I test fit my new wheels and once I saw they were the correct offset (15x8 zero) I bought them and headed back towards home. ****I had heard that Atara Racing lies about there offsets but I am pleased to announce they fit exactly the same as the Watanabe's*** 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 On my way home my wife texted that she wanted me to go grocery shopping at Winco in Vacaville.....we are a family of 5 now so you can imagine the amount of groceries lol. Since I didn't feel comfortable leaving my brand new Watanabe's in the car I decided to drop them off at the tire shop in Fairfield (past Vacaville) and then turn around and go back to Vacaville for groceries. It ended up working out but I had the car packed with groceries (sorry no pics) and ended up putting 150 miles on the car that morning. fun times 🙂 Red's house: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr LOVE HIS CAR: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr At Secret Factory: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr I have actually never seen Atara's and Watanabe this close together before. Biggest differences are the size of the center section and the Atara spokes are longer. Secondly the color is a bit different. Can't wait to mount them tonight 🙂 1 Quote Link to comment
