five1oh
I must say this trip was EPIC and it is SO nice to have a good friend that is a talented photographer on the trip (not to mention he has some badass cars). Naveed shot the following and I can't get over how good they are. I am still working on uploading the rest of the weekend too but for now enjoy.....because I definitely am. Also if you missed my previous 6 posts go back a page because I posted a lot and wanted this set to be on the new page ? It was nice to see you and your wagon at the show. Being a first time participant was much different as I was by my car all day talking to people and didn't get much time to walk around. Hopefully next year I will find a better balance. and Daniel is just a normal dude who is into 510's. I met him for the first time driving to the datslocos show in May. 1 Quote Link to comment

five1oh
So the trip down was SUPER LONG. Between waiting for others, stopping for gas/food, and traffic it took me 13 hours!!!!!! The last 90 miles from Santa Barbara to my Airbnb in Long Beach took 3 hours. It was quite miserable but the car did great except for boiling the gas while sitting in traffic. At one point we were completely stopped on the 405 while a CHP pushed cars out of the way. I shut the car off for that stretch and it was a little sketchy getting it started again after being so hot. Here are a couple more pics from the journey. Arrived to my Airbnb at 830pm. five1oh
After I dropped off my stuff we drove down to Orange to a spot that Naveed had organized a meet that was supposed to start at 8. I messaged a hako owner that I would be there at 920 and I am so glad he showed up. Andy is a great guy and I consider him a friend now. He was gracious enough to give me a ride in his hako and then I returned the favor. His car is SO clean. Hopefully next year I can drive mine down ? five1oh
Made it back to the rental at 1230 and promptly went to bed. My load in time was 715 so I got up bright and early and headed over. I am thankful I stayed so close the the Marina Green (0.6 miles). The load in was slow as expected so I wasn't too happy because that is the only time my car acts up (gets hot and I have fuel issues). Not hot as in overheating but it affects my idle and throttle. May need to make a heat shield or something. Anways here are some pics in order of timing. A couple of them are not my own (which is easy to tell) that I received from some random people that I met through IG and they sent to me. THANKS for the love everyone!!!! five1oh
My thoughts on the show: IT WAS AMAZING. The cars, people, location were all awesome. My ONLY gripe is how the 510's were parked. I felt this year they accepted SO many cars that space was an issue. The way we parked made it hard for people to see the whole car or get good pictures. Additionally I was told it is good to talk to the judges so they can understand the work put in to the car. Because of this I sat by my car the entire day (save for 10 minutes) and I NEVER once saw or talked to a judge. A few of the cars that were parked on the ends or out in the open had better viewing and in my opinion were given more time. As expected and WELL DESERVED tanto won 1st place in the 510 category and 'blackbird' won 2nd place. Not sure which car got third. Overall I loved every minute of it and the time flew by while talking to people. I am hoping to be back next year in my Skyline. Here are some pics of my car from the show. These are not my own but were sent to me or seen on IG. five1oh
and now for my favorite car at the show. This WAS/IS the BEST car PERIOD!!!! in my opinion of course. Roy debuted the first Rocket Bunny kit for the HAKO and to be honest I think it looks great. The stance, color, wheels, interior on this version of his car are the VERY BEST he has had. (his was the blue/white hot wheels car last year). After seeing his genuine GTR wheel I decided that is the wheel I need! five1oh
After the show Matt and I drove up to Naveed's rental and then headed out to the JDM Legends meet. Unfortunately as soon as we got there police were shutting it down so Matt and I headed back to Long Beach and had dinner at Ballast Point. Right after the show I decided I was going to head back home bright and early Sunday morning to get back in time to hang with my family so I wanted to get to bed a little earlier than Friday night. I am sad that we left because I heard later that Josh Martin diffused the situation and the meet went ok. Wish I had taken pictures there because Roy showed up in his Hako and it looked SO MUCH BETTER on the street. Seriously I couldn't get over how good it looked. five1oh
I woke up at 540 Sunday AM and got ready and left my Airbnb at 630am. I had about a 1/4 tank of gas so decided to get straight on the freeway and get past LA to try and avoid traffic if possible. Happy to say it was smooth sailing and I stopped for gas just North of LA. On my way North I was passed by Kevin Neely in his 300zx coming down the grape vine. I forgot to take a pic of him but then when I stopped in Kettleman City and got back on the freeway he ended up passing me again. My next gas stop was right before Tracy and then I made it home at 1230pm so it took 6 hours flat. Car drove great the entire trip and I washed it as soon as I got home. It's funny because I rocked the blue tape on the way south via 101 and literally the car was still perfectly clean for the show....no bugs. Then on the way home I-5 North I did not use tape and of course tons of bugs. I haven't noticed any rock chips so I am happy about that. The only issue I had the whole trip was NO brake lights at all. I got the signals to work (no sequential yet) but lost my brake lights. Thankfully no one rear ended me and my trip was uneventful. Car ran AWESOME and I loved every minute of driving it. Looks like you are really enjoying your car. Wish more people would drive their 510's. A couple things about the article, I've never seen SSS repeated so many times. While you are out there educating people about your cool car they should know that you don't have SSS taillights - you have Bluebird Coupe taillights. Not all coupes were SSS and not all SSS cars were coupes. Interesting point you made about the fold-down seats making a lovers pit... My understanding was that the coupe was marketed to traveling business men and the seats gave them an option other than staying in a hotel. I wonder what the real story is... Keep driving it and showing it off! Have fun. --carter Edited October 18, 2018 by carterb 1 Quote Link to comment

five1oh
Thread is back from the dead!!! So I have used sbcglobal.net for my email for almost 20 years........over the years it has worked fine and with it being a Yahoo product it is now supported by att. Long story short I was locked out of my Flickr account because when I signed up I used my sbcglobal email address years ago. After being on the phone with ATT for about an hour last month they told me that Yahoo was no longer being supported so I basically had no way to log in. Additionally Flickr was bought out by smughub and they finally decided to start limiting storage and my photos have been threatened. I get that space costs money and I was willing to pay but there was no way for me to sign in and update my account. FINALLY after a month I got someone to respond to my email and update my account to my new gmail address. Hopefully with Google being as big as it is it will be around for years to come. So I am NOW finally back in to my Flickr and have some updates: I LOVE having these two cars in my garage! Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Quote Link to comment
five1oh
So I drove the 510 to the last Skukai car show in San Jose and had a blast. Car had issues idling in the heat for a bit while staging but the drive down and back was awesome. five1oh
In addition to Shukai I have driven the car quite a bit to work, did a fun run down to Davenport for a Cars and Coffee and also attended the Vacaville Cars and Coffee with my buddy Red and his graffiti dime.
