Jk made by Karo in Japan, custom made for "KGC10-WORKS" sold through Victory 50 designed for a Hakosuka.....they don't fit well but I wanted to see if I liked the color with my cactus green car......obviously it's awesome as you are the poster child for watermelon Datsuns ??? anyways I found them on Victory 50 and used a proxy server to order them which then had to go up through the other two companies and get them made. They were designed and offered back in 2012 which I found in 2015 and ordered and waited. Basically I LOVED them when I was researching how to do my skyline so I had to get some. Have had them for 2-3 years and decided to finally use them for a bit. crazy expensive but super sexy and I wish they had a 510 pattern. Again check it out at jccs and you will see they don't fit well.... 1 Quote Link to comment

five1oh
So I received this picture over the weekend and on Monday I got my carbs back! Last night I installed them and drove the car again. My friend Peter came over and helped me get them tuned a bit. Josel will be over next week to tune them but I cannot believe the difference my car has. Before it pulled hard but felt kind of sluggish. Last night's drive the car really wanted to go and it felt like night and day. It has been a while but to me this motor feels faster than my 200hp L series I had in my white car years ago. I am beyond happy with how the carbs turned out and even more happy I can drive it again. I will be taking the car to the Datsick show this Sunday in San Jose and hope to see some of you there. ?????? five1oh
Before I put the carbs on I picked up some more hardware from the platers. I installed my horns and will be installing the wiper motor tonight. Still a few things left to do but nearing the end.......for now ? rosso
How expensive was the plating for those dozen or so bolts, etc. plus the bracket? I am in Seattle and would send some similar parts to then when I get to the finishing stuff. I just started reading your thread and jumped right to the end first - if you mentioned cost and who it is that does this, I'll look through the first 15 pages. ? Thanks Quote Link to comment

Thanks Electro plating solutions in Hayward CA. Awesome group of people. There is a minimum charge of I think $130 then you pay California environmental fees and some other disposal stuff. I want to say $150-170 and I'm not sure of the batch size. It's best to gather up a TON of stuff and do it all at once. I want to say I filled up a 5 gallon bucket over half way. I've been back so many times because I forgot stuff that they have helped me out. They also do powder coating and are next door to some chrome plate shop. It's a cool place Quote Link to comment
rosso
Thanks for the info - and your car is great! The plating really is a nice detail. 1 Quote Link to comment

five1oh
So on Saturday I did some minor things while prepping the car for the long drive to San Jose on Sunday for the Datsick car show. I replaced one of my broken interior trim pieces and installed my door sills (thanks James!). I also got my headlights working. Drove the car over to a friends house for dinner and drove home in the dark woo hoo! I also changed my coolant and checked the oil. Still no signals but a friend was bringing his coupe with working signals to the show Sunday so i could inspect and see where mine was different. five1oh
So on Sunday I headed south early in the morning for the Datsick show. I really wanted to cruise with other Datsun's so I met up with the Datslocos crew in Livermore. the first 40 miles were uneventful and the car was running great! One thing I noticed once I got there was I was still having some extra fuel leak out of the back carb. Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Unfortunately I didn't get any roller shots as I was focused on driving the car and wanted to make sure I didn't make any stupid mistakes. When I got the lights working I also managed to get the gas gauge and water temp gauge working as well as the charge light. As of now I still need to run a speedo cable, figure out how to hook up the tach, and diagnose the oil pressure gauge. We rolled into the show at about 9am. The show was great and I ended up getting some head rests, a radiator fan shroud, and a gas tank from James. Thanks MAN! five1oh
At around noon I left with the Datslocos guys since they were going to do a fun run up north to San Francisco. Since I had to go North anyways I thought it would be fun to cruise up there. I got some great pictures and had a great time but I was plagued with a very high idle later on in the run. I am pretty sure I know what is going on (one way valve) and will fix it before the next drive. My brake booster vacuum line runs to the intake and when braking the carbs get more fuel and the car bogs out. Installing the one way valve will keep the pressure on the booster side and shouldn't affect my fuel mixture. At any rate I had an AMAZING time driving through the city. I saw COUNTLESS people with jaws dropped or yelling/honking at me and got TONS of looks, smiles, and compliments. My favorite part was listening the the exhaust bounce off the buildings ripping through San Francisco. Can't wait to drive the car again. All in all I drove over 200 miles and feel very good about my chances of making it to Long Beach for JCCS lol. As an added bonus I got to run with my lights and fog lights on while driving up to the city through the fog ? five1oh
So this week I drove the car a bunch. Loving EVERY minute of it! I met with Josel after work one day and he did a quick tune on my carbs. The car runs SOOO strong and feels VERY quick. Yesterday I went for a short cruise in town with my friend Peter. His motor is of similar build so he said we should race. We went down under the bridge for pictures and decided to do a quick race. I ended up winning and feel my car is a touch faster but he did get wheel spin so I am sure this won't be the last race LOL. I also decided to let him drive it and was a passenger. Once back at his house he helped me adjust the steering box to take the slop out. To be honest in the 30+ Datsun's I have owned I have never adjusted a box (how am I so stupid lol) and thought the wheel slop was inherent of old Datsuns. Anyways on the way home the slop was gone and it felt so weird... They were actually installed by the factory to tie the car down in the cargo ship when it was sent over from Japan. They had no purpose past that and actually aren't intended to be used for towing. datsuntech
I disagree. I like the tow hooks. They are part of the cars charm. Quote Link to comment
