Tedman
Congrats on 1st drive, 1st run out of gas, 1st burnout, 1st car meet, 1st drive to work, and all that other 1st stuff! Car looks wicked cool out in the wild! Did you put a front bar on it yet? HG sealed up? Fuel spilling from carbs on shut down seems odd. Too high fuel pressure, maybe? Again, lookin' good and best of luck getting it dialed in! Quote Link to comment

Front bar (sway bar?) - not yet HG - appears to have sealed up with NO Iron Tite or additive ? Fuel spilling from carbs - not doing it anymore....? perhaps fuel pressure is high. After shutdown when I fire it up first a puff of smoke comes out and smells like extra fuel - A carb tuner is visiting a friend of mine tonight and I am going to crash the meeting......we will see what he says Thanks again still finishing little things. Already got my first damage too! Took a rock to the face on my way to work the other day. Also took a rock to the windshield on the way to Berkeley but didn't crack the glass. johnbureezu
The car looks amazing! You did a great job restoring it. Where on Earth did you find a suede Watanabe steering wheel though? That's pretty cool. Quote Link to comment

five1oh
So after driving my car daily for the past week I decided I wanted to pull the carbs off and have them refreshed. While they looked "good" they could look even better.....here we go. I referred a guy local to me (Josel from Sidedraft Specialties) to a friend to tune his Z. While Josel was there I stopped by and got to talking about my carbs. If you didn't already know I was accepted to JCCS earlier this week. I want my car to be looking its best so I arranged to have Josel clean and rebuild the carbs with new hardware and gaskets. Can't wait. Now if only I could find a competition manifold............ Tedman
Comp intake manifold won't have a port for your vacuum booster. What don't you l like about your manifold? 1 Quote Link to comment

It looks fine I just wasn't happy with the finish. It definitely works well and I'm happy with the length so I will likely just keep it as is. Quote Link to comment
mrbigtanker
Man what would like nice is re run the fuel line behind the engine so it’s not in front with a electric fuel pump, and re route the throttle cable under so it pulls down. five1oh
On Friday and Saturday I had take care of the kids while my wife was out of town so naturally I picked up a Costco Pizza on Friday and had movie night. The box came in handy the next day when I decided to make the spare tire cover ?. Before that could happen we ran errands in the AM, picked up wood and dropped off my rear seat back as well as the factory rear wheel tub covers to get remade/repaired. Interior should be finished very soon. Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr I did the same thing I did on my white 510 years ago. I like to add a brace to the bottom of the panel so that heavy objects carried in the trunk won't deform it. I still need to pick up another aluminum L brace but happy with how it turned out: Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Edited August 6, 2018 by five1oh Quote Link to comment

five1oh
On my previous car I wrapped everything in the trunk in carpet. This time around I am not sure that is the route I will take so I figured I wanted the gas tank cover to be black and while at Home Depot I saw they sold MDF half sheets that are used for chalk boards and one side was already black so I thought I would try it out. VERY HAPPY with how it looks EXCEPT that I had a brain fart and while cutting a section out on the right side I cut too much wood creating a mounting issue where I had to add an aluminum tab to be able to mount it. Will eventually get another sheet and do it again as now that I have this one it will be easy to trace and cut. The cool thing was that I had some photos of my white car and was able to cut it to match the factory panel pretty closely even though it was done free hand. Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr Untitled by five1oh2010, on Flickr One other thing that bothered me about the trunk was the gas evaporator tank by the hinges had that ugly bedliner texture to it. That rubber coating completely covered everything in the BRE car including rust and it sticks out like a sore thumb. Thankfully one of the shells I purchased had a pretty nice one in it so I removed it and took it to my friends and used his media blaster to remove the factory paint. It has a crease in it but is MUCH better than the one I will be taking out. I painted it in flat black and also painted my wiper motor and horns in semi-gloss. In the future I will likely do the integra wiper motor conversion but for now just trying to have a place for the harness to go ? five1oh
Did a few things this weekend. Finally finished a piece of the interior I was dreading.....the rear wheel covers. Like a multitude of other parts of the car I did things backwards....once the rear wheel arch covers were finished I would have to remove the side panels, the rear seat, the rear seat brackets, and the gas tank cover plate I made. These pieces fit very tightly together and it required me to jack up the car to access the nuts for the rear seat brackets. Needless to say it was a LOT of work just to do a little work lol. I am EXTREMELY pleased how my rear seat turned out after repair since I can't afford to recover the interior at this time. In addition to installing the rear wheel arch covers I installed the front kick panels as well as installed my bluetooth amp along with the shelf speakers. On Sunday I made a run up to Dastunville to get a couple other missing little pieces as well as grab some stuff for a friend.
