1972 510, front dust caps

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know the best place to get the dust caps for the 510? I have seen them readily available for the Zs, but they don't have a ton of matches for the 510. I would like to order parts for the car, but am currently out of town and I can't measure. I would love if someone has a place that you know to buy them post it up in the comments below.

I have seen some on eBay, but can't be sure they are right.

I bought mine from the dealership some years back. Not very expensive; and they fit very tight.

Rockauto maybe? I'm sure any dealer still has them as Henry mentioned.

Here are some Nissan part #'s

40234-28500

40234-21000

The one that ends "28500" should be the newest #. You would have to call your local Nissan dealer to see if they are available.

Yep, these days we tend not to, the only reason I do is from spending so many years working parts departments at them.

These numbers specifically fit the 510, 610, B210 and 310 only. Not saying other Datsuns won't fit the 510, just the part numbers are different so perhaps different shape?

Side tip... Unless you like the hammered in dust cap look use a piece of exhaust tube that fits around the dome so you hammer the flange not the dome.. they go on snug....

I ended up buying mine twice that's why I mentioned it... I bashed the hell out of the first set to get them on... looked like crap after all the work I was doing to my 521 I couldn't leave it like that. It drove me crazy....

I learned the second time around....

Also a rag in between the pipe and the dust cap is a good idea... I had painted mine black and didn't wanna scratch them either...
