carterb
We spent a few minutes updating the to do list... At least 40 hours of work for the three of us (less when we have four). 80 to be safe/realistic. That's 20 evenings. Not looking like enough time for the April race but we'll see what happens... 2 Quote Link to comment

Dime Dave
I have a question. When you plumbed the engine bay brake lines, why didn't you delete the brake-fault idiot light switch? Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Nice finally putting some faces to screen names/vehicles. :) Got only a few pics. I have a question. When you plumbed the engine bay brake lines, why didn't you delete the brake-fault idiot light switch? Judging by the overall project, the parts were already there, free and easily plumbed in.I imagine if the car is fun enough everything will get upgraded as time and $ allow. 1 Quote Link to comment
Dime Dave
Those brake lines are so shiny, I figured they were new! 1 Quote Link to comment
carterb
Ha! Jeff says he tricks everyone with that chrome paint! 3 Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
Haha chrome paint for the win!! :) Speaking of painting things. Carter decided to do some face painting. He realized how youthful the POR15 was making our racecar looked so he decided to try some out. It worked!!! My goal this week has been to improve our front sump oil pan. We don't want to oil starve during our 7 hour race. Here is some progress pics. Must get it done by tuesday!!! 6 Quote Link to comment
carterb
Another Turbo Tuesday in the books. Jeff spent the night finishing the oil pan and pick up. He can tell you more about that. Sam spent the night working on the mounting scheme for the drivers seat and lowered floor. I spent the night in the trunk - literally. Time to close off that giant gaping hole of a missing tire well... Started by making a cardboard mock-up Cut, deburred, and test fitted the sheet Coated back side of sheet and top side of trunk with "weld through primer" and skip welded the perimeter It's not pretty. Lots of snap-crackle-pop with the paint in place. I ground those welds down, went around the perimeter with a wire wheel and then filled in the gaps with nicer welds after a little example/instruction from Jeff. Much better. Now ready for seal and paint. Jeff was leak testing the oil pan in the kitchen sink when I left. That engine can't wait to get back in the car! 2 Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
Seems like we are making forward progress..... 40 something days... the weekend before the race there is an autoX we gotta make it to that! Carter welding more. Sam figuring out how to fit the seat. My boy helping me clean the inside of the oil pan. He loves activities that include water. Motor is back in!!!!!! mmmhhhh rack and pinion!!!! Looking good so far if I don't say so! 2 Quote Link to comment

carterb
The boss says we have to put in extra hours now. Here are some pics from Thursday night. Looks brand new from this end Fiddly dial racecar thingys Note - remember to paint base of steering column Got this from Bruce years ago when he was a Zero Rust rep. Thought it was funny that the lid was rusty. After all these years though it mixed right up and went on nice and smooth. A little thicker than POR15. I like it. Sam's fitting the new fwd roll hoop. Thanks again Steve! Jeff's bleeding the clutch. (can't believe he didn't use Coke!) We have one pedal now. Only two to go! 2 Quote Link to comment

]2eDeYe
Starting to look like a car again. 1 Quote Link to comment
Icehouse
Added a bung for the fan switch. For some reason the original one has a step, the new ones don't. Hopefully it does't leak! Welded on some mounts for the fan. I don't care for the zip ties that go through the rad core. Rad requires spacers.... Of coarse now the rad hits the alternator :( We moved the motor back about 1/2" after this photo was taken. Fan worked out though! We better hurry up!! 1 Quote Link to comment

]2eDeYe
Looks like you got that front bar welded in. Interior looks good in white. :D Quote Link to comment
volkswagner
Sure did! thanks again for bending it. We ended up fitting it differently than originally planned. We were going to have it rotated forward toward the top of the window frame but, we realized if we moved it back a tad we could have it fit about an inch higher by recessing it up to the roof skin. This translated to more head clearance and therefore being able to mount our seat higher. Looks like you got that front bar welded in. Interior looks good in white. :D 1 Quote Link to comment
