This was the reason the tranny got stuck in gear the first time around

you can see reverse is pretty wrecked too, but this is probably common I'm guessing

Reverse is not synchronized so there will always be normal 'grinding' wear. It's not that important being a little used gear anyway.

That 5th gear is dinky.

Remember that Rev and first are on the same shift fork.

That would be reverse counter and reverse idler gear on the rear shaft. With first counter gear on the stubby end of the counter gear driving it AND engaged to the large first gear above it. Reverse is the large gear to the rear with the wear on the leading edge of the teeth.

Fifth is at the front of the transmission just behind 'forth' where third would be on a 71B

I went thru 4 of them in 5 years.

well they last longer than doglegs.

The tranny is the only thing not rebuilt on the sedan. I've had it 10 abusive years and I'm positive the PO was even more abusive.

Love the 2-3 shift in the canyons!

the worn synchros are getting annoying...

I don't have a use for this tranny at the moment. This project was more just for the experience than anything.

If you need more experience, I'll take the rebuilt and send mine up.
