Could you imagine living in the Pacific Northwest and having endless access to Datsun parts? Us east coast guys are shit out of luck when it comes to parts. mainer311
Yeah, I know. What little salvage yards we have to begin with, nobody even has Datsun stuff. 1 Quote Link to comment
wayno
It might have been that way 10 years ago, but I would not use the phrase "endless access" anymore. 1 Quote Link to comment
Charlie69
The Datsuns are drying up in AZ and all over Western United States. The crusher makes it final for the life of Datsuns. Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
You would think the junkyards might care about older or rare vehicles but they dont.... just scrap metal to them.... it's sad to see some of the ones that end up at the junkyard.... I dont even want to imagine what has been crushed and lost over the years.... 1 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
There’s a guy out west that sells NOS Datsun parts. He gets phone calls to come check warehouses, and he said a lot of the time, stuff is being thrown into dumpsters already by the time he arrives. d.p
Nice, that just slip over? And did you paint your horns white? nevermind that is your stock air intake. Carry on. Edited October 13, 2018 by d.p 1 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
Yup, dremeled the top off, and cut a 1.25” slot out from the bottom to clear the coil bracket. It “snaps” over the top and keeps itself on. 1 Quote Link to comment
greenthumb
the Moxie tribute is too cool! Lots of great memories with a wonderful old friend in Maine, and an ice cold glass of Moxie on the patio at 'camp' I do feel like the formula has changed since then. It seems sweeter and has less bite than I remember 1 Quote Link to comment
mainer311
It definitely is a lot more tame. An old timer told me to drink diet Moxie with a few hits of angostura bitters to make it more like the original. 1 Quote Link to comment

mainer311
Damn, didn’t know you made it. Thanks for the pics. It was good to see Neil made the pilgrimage. I got there and discovered I never hooked my coolant overflow tube back up last night and blew coolant all over my engine bay. Oh well. I need to stop last minute tinkering. 3 Quote Link to comment
sondat
Truck looks great mainer311, that’s what it’s all about. Who knows maybe my son and I will get his ride south of the border for a show or two. 1 Quote Link to comment

DanielC
I would not be surprised if the truck in the middle actually has a higher payload weight. 1 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The J powered 520 and L521 were rated at 1,000 Kg a hair over 2,200 pounds. The PL521 and up were only 500Kg or just over 1,100 pounds. Still over a half ton. 1 Quote Link to comment

wayno
I think it's hilarious that our small Datsun trucks are smaller than most everything out there including a lot of cars. 1 Quote Link to comment

Try driving a roadster. Probably about the same width, just a little shorter and a lot lower. Someone snapped a picture of me driving to work one morning and put it on Instagram with the caption "Gee, I didn't know I was in a game of Mario Kart this morning." A buddy of mine found it and said, hey isn't that you? Edited October 29, 2018 by mainer311 1 Quote Link to comment
