bcdd removal on 79 280

Recommended Posts

what is the easiest, cleanest way to remove the non functional bcdd on my 280 and still pass cal smog check ?  Can I just remove vacumm and cap it and the wire from it.?   Can I leave it on but diconnected, and does it effect anything if I do that ?    Any thoughts would be most welcome.  I found this car after been in storage for 20 years, would like to upgrade engine and fueling systems eventually and make it totally dependable.

What would be the one biggest improvement I could make?   Thanks for any help.  Steve

If non functional how will you pass a California smog check anyway? They do visual checks also. I don't know if the 280zx even has a BCDD. They are EFI.

Just replace it with a good working one and forget it. The BCDD has no effect whatever on performance and no one can see that it there or removed when you're out driving...... and it will pass inspection.

Get a low restriction muffler and a tune up. Do NOT waste a cent on a 'cone filter'. They are the biggest joke on the market.
