Crashtd420
Those bastards.... I went with bosch personally.... Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
Wix are good filters. I find anything Bosch hard to trust these days... 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
I'm with Matt on this. Trust Wix. Bosch has their hands in too many things. I remember when Bosch as a very trusty name. Been far too long now. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Their rebuilt starters are shit. 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Wow.... would have never thought that about Bosch, happy with mine so far but I hear the reasoning... Anyhow the normal 3 brands I see are fram, stp, bosch... and I guess add wix to the list... you guys think the wix filter is the best ??? Are there any others brands that we can trust the quality? wayno
If I were to guess I would say you have the wrong engine mount bracket on the engine if the oil filter is hitting the bracket,. same if the oil filter is hitting the frame. Quote Link to comment
thisismatt
Walmart Supertec filters are even decent filters. They were made by champion labs and now by wix I believe... Quote Link to comment
racerx
Wal-Mart also sells purolators Quote Link to comment
captain720
I always use the Napa brand by WIX. Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Ha just read bosch bought purolator.... If you like wix... Wix 51085 is 3.8 long Wix 51311 is 3.3 long... The length on the one datsSully tried 51515 was 5inchs.. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
they make a smaller filter. But I had a L 20 and the regular one should still fit 1 Quote Link to comment
Stoffregen Motorsports
I wonder if the motor mount bracket is loose from the block allowing it to tip over or something. A normal, large filter should fit, no problem. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
really I think remote cooler looks cooler Quote Link to comment
racerx
Looks cool but in this case, its not working. Quote Link to comment

Datssuly did you have the same problem with that motor? Are you using the mounts you had on the l18? Is there a possibility the mount is bent on the passenger side? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Left would be the driver's side. L16/18 and L20B are only different in height just below the head (2cm) Mount location should be the same and oil filter clear. Tons of room. Quote Link to comment
racerx
Had 2 wagons with L20, have 510 with L18 and L16, still wondering why his set up is like that with oil filter, there's lots of room even if you put an F1 filter, btw, will also fit my 65 mustang. Quote Link to comment

I mess that up too.... There is definitely something missing to this whole story..... 1 Quote Link to comment
DatsSully
I had a similar problem with my oil filter, won't get into that but what I found was... Stock is a S8A. . 4.5 inches long A bosch 3402 will work and is 3.75 long.. Also bosch 3321 is 3.25 inches long Also stp s7328 is 3.25 inches. And I won't even mention the fram.... You sir saved the day, thank you. The store didn't have the bosch but I got them to get the WIX equivalent which worked. He did say it leans a bit left... Maybe that should be addressed first.... I think he said There was an l18 in there before... Datssuly did you have the same problem with that motor? Are you using the mounts you had on the l18? Is there a possibility the mount is bent on the passenger side? Yeah I used the same mounts from my L18, I think I remember reading somewhere that the l20b leans a little more than the smaller engines which might have caused it. Thanks everyone for the help, I'll start a build thread soon that everyone can point out all the sketchy shit I did in haha really I think remote cooler looks cooler It definitely says racecar which appealed to my inner child, I'll probably put a less sketchy one in when I have the resources/get everything else sorted out. Crashtd420
Well atleast you have oil pressure so you won't mess up the motor... Quote Link to comment
racerx
Yeh, but could be very low, that's why I said to install an oil gauge Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Yeh, but could be very low, that's why I said to install an oil gauge Very true... Even if its temporary just to verify psi... can't hurt. Personally I like gauges, I like knowing what everything is up to instead of guessing.... Quote Link to comment
racerx
Besides oil pressure gauge, voltmeter and temp. Gauge is a must for old skool cars Quote Link to comment

flatcat19
Fuel pressure? Most of us run L motors...so 3.5psi? We'd know right away, without a gauge, if we have fuel pressure or not. Lol. Quote Link to comment
