Gaskets between carb and cooling metal shield???

Recommended Posts

I cant seem to find any info on this anywhere.

Do I need gaskets between the "cooling metal shield" and the carburetor base?

Here are some pictures for reference.

I am working on a A series engine with a OEM Hitachi carb.

Thanks in advance

Simple. Go to dollar store and buy a hole punch, round if possible. All you need is a pen, a pair of kitchen scissors and a Cheerios box.

Trace out the gasket and use the hole punch to make the bolt holes carefully nibbling it away. Make another hole so you can get the scissors in for the barrels. I have a cereal box gasket for my thermostat cover gasket and my water pump although in the picture above I had some gasket material for the housing to head gasket..

Get the hole punch and you'll never need to buy another gasket ever again.  .
