Hello everyone my name is dylan. I'm currently 23 and live in tulsa oklahoma. I love a cars and currently own two of my own. My first was my 89 300zx z32. Second I purchased my 77 datsun 280z from the salvage I was working at. I made a deal with the boss for 600 cash and I got the keys. Super excited I quickly went about inspecting it seeing what all I had and what was missing, what worked and what didn't etc. Needless to say it wouldn't start but the engine did turn over freely and sounded pretty healthy. Next I tried some starting fluid and sure enough it coughed its way to life and ran great no tics noises or anything of the sort. So I began investigating the fuel system and found the gas tank had about a half a bucket of rust in it. At this point I moved to tulsa and left the car beside my mom's for 3 years and now here we are.

So I restarted my build a couple months ago. Orded some parts from summit racing to make a new fuel system wiesco fuel cell, aluminum fuel hose, some steel braided line, fittings, fuel pressure reg with gauge and return, an in line oil filter cartridge style fuel filter. I also picked up a megasquirt fuel pump rated at 45psi. Before I state my next sentence might I say a lot of people on here may not like or approve of my build but it's ok I still love my car. Anyways, the fuel cell was a little to large to fit where the original one was. So I grabbed my sawzall and began to cut away the old spare tire holder to make way for the tank.20170402_103803_zpszwgbl2ml.jpg

That being done I installed it with a ratchet strap I seen on a boat out behind my shop, made some brackets out of the piece i had cut out and got it held down fairly securely. Next I removed the old fuel pump and replaced it with the new one. I also replaced some of the hoses with steel braided and the aluminum hose. Cycled the key with the line off to see if the pump was working nothing, tried again nothing, third time we have fuel :) was really happy at this time. Put the hose on and double clamped it for safety and she fired right up first time. Drove her home the same night. This was the start of it all and now I'm in deep planning a full build. Looking forward to the advice and chat along the way. Hope you guys enjoy my thread and thanks for reading I'll be catching you guys up on where I'm at over the next few dayz.

Ok so i figured out how to properly insert the pictures thanks to king rats link ^^ thanks. After i got it running i decided to choose the path i wanted to take. So i began planning and ordering parts for it, keeping just mere cents from my paychecks, while my wife as away on vacation. i was dumping all my money into it, now fully dedicated to my 280z. I ordered a good bit of stuff as i mentioned at first an all new fuel system. Second a gt style wing,

some green halo headlights,

fender flares and a roller, complete cam kit, huge corvette style side pipes, and a spare megasquirt fuel pump..... just in case.

Also sanded off all the surface rust with a wire brush ball that attaches to an air dremel, took me about 16 hours to do the whole car. Prepped everything with a rust dissolver compound and sanded down the whole car inside, out, hell i even did even the bottom.

From there i removed all the rear suspension strut towers, control arms, sway bar, rear end, driveshaft everything and also sanded all of it down.

Next i had the whole underside of the car generously lined with rubberized bed liner for maximum weather protection. I primered all the pieces i had taken off and then had them all hand pained by of course yours truly me lol. i let the car down on the lift and removed the wing, got everything masked up and ready for paint ;) i know..... i know... everyone always asks me what color are you going to paint it??? and well here you are.......

since i want my 280z to be not what everyone elses is and do what they do to theirs. Hence 3 piece duckbill wing, clean paint, stock motor, 240z conversion bumpers. I am shooting for an american muscle jdm mash up of sorts. Huge wing, huge side pipes, slammed and cammed basically.... oh and fender mirrors because who dont just fall in love with those. So that's a basic catch up to where i am now. From here its waiting on parts and guidance on how to build the motor????? i was thinking Mild cam kit, .40 over pistons, h beam connecting rods, all arp bolts, dome top su carbs, 3-2 style header i want to run true dual pipes, light weight flywheel, clutch kit, r200 rear end and potentially keep the 4 speed transmission. Any pointers??
