Yea, the case vent tube is wrong, but it appears to be an L20b as it has the 2 top bolts on the front cover, at least it looks like it does to me in that photo.

You're the man wayno! Yup side block vent and it is an L20B. Never ever seen this before. Has the L16/18 cast iron header on it too. Must be a very early L20B casting. Has the water warmed/cooled intake also. It's a real odd duck.

I've been getting very intimate the last few days with an L16 block.

 

That L20B above looks familiar but really odd at the same time.

I liked how the truck looked with stock wheels and caps as well, but I like change and if I'm not happy with it I can always go back.

Hit run sucks but you are definitely bringing it back.  There are 2 people in AZ wanting J13 Carbs.  I have one for one person but the other person is still looking.  Be safe and enjoy your Datsuns.

When I'm completely done I will take photos of both sets of rims/tires installed and gather a public consensus. Let me run with this, have faith and enjoy it, even if it's not how you would do it.

I do have one question perhaps someone may be able to help me with. I have a spare 280z 5-speed I am contemplating throwing in, I have done alot of research but am a little unclear on the driveshaft options I have. Am I able to frankenstein parts of the driveshaft off a 620 and 521 to make it work or is cutting and welding the only option besides a custom one?

just my opinion on the wheels

I had chrome Pathfinders on my 521 then I put the stock wheels on with the caps I got MORE compliments.

 

 

know nothing about the 280zx instsall. Its no one day job I can surely tellyou that. remember the carrier bearing iis there also

Do whatever you are comfy with with the wheels. At the end of the end of the day, its your truck, wheels, money, time, effort, headaches...main thing is your happy with whatever set up u have and it works
