DatMo
So I used paint thinner on my long champs but there were some pretty damn stubborn spots so I ended up using a steel wire brush to get some things out. I didn't think of the consequences till after but I realized I could be damaging the wheel. I still have to sand it with a 400 etc to get a nice polish out of it. Am I really in that great of danger for wheel? I've heard it could be unbalanced now but can't I rebalance them? The wheels are my longchamps. Quote Link to comment
sebpv
depends how much metal you think you removed. To be fair I would only worried if a grinder was used Quote Link to comment

tr8er
I highly doubt you are going to notice anything at street speeds. But we're you using power-tools or a brush? Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Sand it out and you're good. Quote Link to comment
DatMo
Unfortunately I don't have any pictures because the damage wasn't anything that was exactly noticeable. It was a hand brush, no high-power tools. Thanks for the confirmation. It seems as if I'm fine. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Consider the size of the lead wheel weights they use, and the fact that the alloy weighs far less than lead. You'd have to take a LOT of material off to make it unbalanced so far that wheel weights can't correct it. Quote Link to comment
