When my mom came to Canada she had never had a hamburger but thought it sounded delicious. When it arrived she was confused and asked the waitress (there were no servers back then) where's the knife and fork? Cultures and eating rituals vary. Long ago a lady I worked with took me for Chinese food, or what passes for Chinese in N.Am. She insisted on chop sticks, no forks. I was frustrated and hungry and the meal was 'difficult'. But I did try them again..... and again and over the years learned I can feed myself in a passably civilized manner.

I sometimes forget how lucky I am living in the Bay Area, all kinds of different foods.  Mexican , El Salvadorian, Filipino, Vietnamese, Chinese, Cambodian, Afghan food, Indian, Korean, the list goes on.  But traffic is ass fuck as hell.
