510 wagon brake light switch

I have a 71 510 wagon that i have lost my brake lights. when i use a test light at the switch, i get power on one side and nothing on the other which i assume is how it is supposed to be. but when i engage the pedal i lose power to both sides.  Is this normal?  i even tried jumping the switch but no lights still.  all other lights and electrical work fine.

Replace the fuse that powers it and clean the contacts that hold it.. I suspect that it isn't making a good solid connection.

I lost my brake lights once. It was a broken spade connector at the fuse box. Fuse would do the same thing and probably more likely.

Thanks for the tips, it turned out to be the connections at the horn relay were rusted pretty bad.  but i finally have all the electrical worked out.  Now to finish the bodywork.
