Wassup fellas. just picked up my first Datsun 510 yesterday! I plan on restoring & have it KUUHLEEAAAN running without any problems. Excited for this build but will need your guy's help with the little problems & questions that come up .

its got a l18 and a w53 head and that head is correct for this block right? And for some reason has 2 dip sticks??

 

Yes, thats correct. Could be a closed chamber head.. you never know!

Ok 2 fuel hard lines @ right wheel well , I know one of them links up to the fuel filter .but how about the other one...where does it link up to ?...

Looks like this car is a 69 (hard to tell from the photos). The 69 and maybe 68 had a carb with a feed and return line. If you don't have this carb, just cap it off on both ends.

Thats exactly how it looks so maybe its a imported engine ?

Many L18's are JDM imports. Especially if it has a W53 head. If you ever pull the intake manifold check for notches at the top of the intake runners, might even be a fuel injection head.

Did a tune up today. Spark plugs & wires, oil change .new fuel filter. Fuel lines

We Got the datto to turn for a bit while adding gas to carb and pressing the gas. Noticed that we didn't see fuel coming up to the fuel filter..Maybe the hardlines are clogged?? Going to try tmrw and see if we can get fuel running throughout the car & then next up brakes..hopefully y'all can see my pics . think i was having issues uploading. Lmk if you guys can see them.

Blow air from the engine bay through the lines. Then listen for bubbles in the tank.

what if theres junk in the lines and we end up pushing it in the tank? Instead of getting rid of it?

That is certainly a possibility. You can do the same from the tank side. Just not as easy.
