Me too but I was 25. No head and likely no flywheel. Be-built it on the kitchen table. A complete (manifolds, carb, oil pan, head, flywheel) L20B is 285.

Its awkward but that's not heavy. Fuck im 48 and I can lift up and carry it. But a fork lift is much easier.lol

Mike if I make a stroker block out of my L20B I got the Nissan NOS long rods, what pistons do I buy ? The wrist pin needs to be moved up correct.

Are you saying you are going to a different stroke?? I would need to know the new stroke.

Can some explain to me what these 3 connections are on my 4 speed and where they go on the 5 speed which doesn’t appear to have as many threaded holes. I figure on is reverse but what are the other two?

Here is my 5 speed which appears to only have one place for those sensor wire thingamajigs.

All you need is the reverse. The other 2 are 3rd gear and neutral switches.

Thanks Mainer.  Which one is the reverse switch ?  damn oil keep those wires looking new. 
 

And yes Matt nothing on the other side of that 5 speed.

Sealing an oil pan with a cork gasket is that enough or should I use a bead of permatex gasket maker??

Yes use a silicone also on both sides. nice smooth even amount.

Yes, a smooth even small amount. Then pinched tight it will just squeeze out as well as in. Just look at any chevy intake manifold. You don't want that shit plugging up your oil pick up tube screen.

I put my Datsun engine gaskets together dry, never had a problem.

Got some more parts for my truck. Dual mikuni throttle cable from Taka.  I think I just need a shift knob for my 5 speed and I’ll be good to go.

When I swap the 5 speed and L20B can I reuse my release bearing from my 4 speed?  I ask because I don't have one for my 5 speed.  Are they interchangeable?

The release bearing collar is matched to the clutch it is used on. You can only use it if you put you present clutch on the L20B. 

 

You will need to know what clutch you are going to be using on the L20B. If the L20B is from a car the diameter will be 200mm, a truck L20B is always a 225mm. If you buy a new clutch often the release collar comes with it.

 

If you know exactly what year engine and what it's out of I can get you the part number.

Engine is out of a early 610 so its a car L20B which is 200mm which is what I bought as well.     Buuuuuuuut I just checked what I bought and it says it came with a new release bearing but no collar?  So seeing as its a 200mm clutch on the an L20B flywheel I can then reuse my 521 release collar as its all 200mm no?

We went thru this before

its a 200mm roadster set up so use the 510/521 throw out sleeve.  from your 4 speed.

if the L20b flywheel is a 200mm all else is the same only the clamping force is better.

 

but really if people just use the 510/521 clutch fork with the adjustable 510/521 threaded rod slave cylinder with it you could mismactch it and make it work cause of the adjustability of the 510/521 system.
