My 1971 521

I have been able to pull and engine with a cherry picker with just under 8 feet room but it was tight, I found that if the cherry picker is on unimproved ground that I had to lift the engine and then roll the vehicle back out from under the raised engine, I suppose if the ground was rock hard(dry) you could likely move the cherry picker around, but not likely on gravel unless one had help and the engine would likely do a lot of swinging around from jerky movements.

It depends on if only the engine is coming out or if the transmission is coming with it.

If your cherry picker have all castor wheels then you can go sideways with the front wheels and turn the whole thing sideways in front of your truck, but I have found that my lower control arms will not clear the cherry pickers arms that stick out with castor wheels unless the front of the vehicle is raised on jack stands.

If it has 6 wheels they are all likely castor, if it has 4 wheels the front 2 wheels might not be castor(see link below), I could not even find a low type on ebay that might clear the lower control arms, you could put 4X4 boards under the front tires, but the more you raise the front of the truck the higher you have to raise the engine to get it out.

I am not saying to buy this, I used it as an example of a 4 wheel unit and it is not the low type.

You could try Craigslist or the like near you for a good deal on one.

I do not know this for sure, but I believe the early 620 trucks frame was pretty close in dimensions to a 521.   I do not think there were a lot of changes in the engine mount height, or crossmember under the engine, or steering linkage location.

But again, I specifically have not tried to put an early 620 on the engine in a 521.
