Crashtd420
Well as i said started with the easy stuff... I got the driver's window back up but the regulator is finally shot... It was cobbled together so I am surprised it lasted 7 years... I had acquired a, in great condition, replacement a few years ago. So I dug that out an installed it, finishing up the locks on both doors and everything works good.... Ran out of time for the coolant leak but my initial assessment is I just need to tighten the intake bolts and I will be ok.. Quickly checked a couple bolts I could easily reach and they all wanted to be tightened.... Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
And all is good ... All the intake and exhaust nuts were looser than they should have been.... Retorqued everything and problem was solved.... 1 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
sometimes the center exhaust part of gasket will blowout if bolts loose to long. esp the felpro made gasket 1 Quote Link to comment

Crashtd420
The driver door really seems to want some attention lately... Picking my son up from school and the door handle broke..... Piece on the inside..... Easy fix but now I have a silver handle on one side and black on the other... Let's see how long that take for me to paint it... Quote Link to comment

I always had a feeling it would break, but at the handle pivot not where it did.... It was repaired before me with a small nut and bolt so It never operated smoothly.... Door opens better than it ever has with the new handle... same with rolling up the window.... Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Datsun got tucked away for the season with the wife's bus... No repair plans for the datsun this winter, might work on a front valance as a fun project or possibly the door cards I never had... Bus does need some minor rust repairs which will be my main goal for the winter... 1 1 Quote Link to comment
demo243
I sadly tucked mine away too since I’m assuming they are going to dump a ton of salt on the roads tomorrow… Maybe if we get a good rain I might get to sneak another drive in. We keep saying it- but we definitely gotta get a Mass or NE Datsun gathering together! As for door cards I had good luck using ABS sheets. Make a cardboard template or trace the door car and then just score the back and split it. On 7/5/2020 at 8:11 PM, demo243 said: In the meantime I got started on another project. The front door cards have always had speaker holes in them and overall they all just weren’t in great shape. T3s are nice, but expensive... decided to try my hand at some myself. picked up some 1/8” abs plastic sheet Traces the outline Scored it with a razor about half way through and then bent it to snap it off Cut/drilled some holes and mounted it up still need some more screws to secure it. My door pull/armrests were in rough shape, but there are threads spaced perfectly for the rear pulls up front too (the two silver screws up top) so going to just run those to clean it up and keep it simple. Never used the arm rest any way... need a new door handle for the drive side too since the plastic is breaking off. Almost finished the rear driver as well - just needs mounting screws Should have a few big scrap panels too so I think I’ll cut some kick panels too. 1 Quote Link to comment

You need to get another driverside back-up as soon as you can, they are the ones that break from too much use, and replacements are not new condition. 1 Quote Link to comment

There is actually a complete drivers door in a pick and pull... I should really go get it... I tried to buy just the hinges but they said they go with the whole door... I never asked a price... I should ask.. Quote Link to comment

Unfortunately I cant sneak the datsun out even if I wanted... the right side of the garage is where the door is... so datsun goes in first, and slid left on casters, because the bus is a little longer ... As for the door cards abs was what I was thinking already.... I could probably make some kicks while I am at it... Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Well as always intention vs reality... I got nothing done over winter on the datsun. I ended up doing rust repair on the wife's VW bus instead... Luckily everything was good on the datsun and I was able to get a sticker for the year.. 1 Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Till I saw coolant ... I only see a small puddle after I drive, coming from the corner of the radiator. Atleast I got 7 years out of this ebay radiator.... Luckily I had an original radiator, a fan and shroud to keep going... not sure if it will be good enough to run the ac, but should be good enough to drive.. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
I had 2 chines rads and one leaked from the start if I ran a 180 stat. I got a champion (china also)and seems better. Be honest they look the same but seems Champion is used on alot of muscle car at the shows . I guess they better. I also got one for my 92 toyota pickup and its fine. seem better than the stock plastic china ones for 79$ but I have one of those also and seems to work. Quote Link to comment
Crashtd420
Swapping was the easiest way to keep driving the datsun.... So far its doing just fine... and it was 85 today.... 1 Quote Link to comment
