Keep them Running!
Can I use a 280ZX front struts insert on my 73 Skyline 240K C110 coupe and if not what is available or what matches in the US market to replace ? Thanks in advance. Jamal Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
What's in there now???? If it still has the original oil filled dampers, do what I did on my Datsun. Dump the thin watery oil out and replace with 20W (or 10W or 15W) motorcycle fork oil. It's thicker so resists being pushed through the valves more. The problem with inserts is who knows what the compression and rebound rates are? They are unknown and if not all the same are some generic amount. I hear about running VW Rabbit inserts??? what? they are designed for a Rabbit not a Datsun. Your struts were designed with the proper valving for your car, all you need is having them a bit firmer. I used BelRay 20W motorcycle for oil about $17CDN per liter. That's enough for 3 struts. Full of anti foam and rust inhibitors. Quote Link to comment
scooter
I would bet 280z inserts would fit. Quote Link to comment
