The one that the US never got: 1984 Patrol 160

Recommended Posts

This is my second hobby car/truck!

I'm a big fan of Nissan Patrols and I had several in the past. My first one I bought when I didn't have a drivers license yet.

My current one is a 1984 which is powered by a L28 with single carb. Most of them got the SD33 straight 6 diesel or turbo diesel in Europe so mine is pretty unique. I'm the second owner. I bought it in 2006, it was parked under a three for 6 years but given its a Nissan it fired right up after some fresh fuel. Drove around a bit, did a SPOA, fitted 33" muds, fitted airlockers and fitted 37's, drove some more but it got so much rust that it didn't pass inspection anymore!

I'm currently working on it, did a ful resto on the frame and body because Nissan=rust! Cut all rust out and weld new metal in, heaps of work but it is all solid now again!

I prepared it for offroading but I drive it on the road too. I did a axle swap to Patrol Y60 axles (these can handle up to 40" easy), did a shackle reverse on the front, fitted 280zx efi and some more stuff. These PAtrols can be fitted with 2 PTO's (side and rear) but I only have the side PTO.

Because of the 37's I want more power so I collected parts to turbo it. With this one I want low down torque so I went with a RB20 turbo charger, a dual butterfly throttlebody from a JDM L28 that I have and stock cam.
