Hello guys, I'm doing and engine swap, and need some advice on front brakes.

Not looking to use the 1200 hub at all, but keep the factory struts that will be convert to adjustable coilover with the T3 kit

installing a 15x4 ford 5 lugs 4-5 bolt pattern front wheel

I have read around but mostly swap are people wanting to keep the 13" wheels. what are my choices for bigger brakes using 5 lugs

thanks in advance!

Not following at all.

15x4 ford 5 lugs 4-5 bolt patter ......what does this even mean????

Bolt pattern has nothing to do with brakes. Assuming you are putting a Ford hub??? on??? Well what's on these hubs now for brakes? Try a Ford forum and see what fits the hub you plan to use. Not going to find many Ford brake experts here...

Five seconds to type 1200 brake up grade into the search function gives...

14" and 15" zx factory mags and rims and 14" factory S110 and others will fit the stock 1200 hub and strut. You want brakes? look up swapping '79-'83 280zx or Maxima struts with big calipers and vented rotors on. Same bolt pattern.

Ford??? Pfffffft. If these fit the Nissan spindle I think it would be common knowledge.

If you're looking to upgrade, using a 4" wide wheel seems like 8 steps backwards.

Just because you have a part in hand is not a good enough reason to use it.

You can do better with less. Keep doing your homework.

Guess I'm not building as everybody else.., doing a drag race set up

First, I'll tell you how, then like everyone else, tell you why you shouldn't.

79-82 210 front suspension (LCA, TC rod, etc)

79-83 280ZX struts (with the coilover conversion you mention)

85-88 300ZX 5-lug hubs and 11" rotors

Either adapters to run Wilwood Dynalite calipers (readily available), or custom adapters to use the 280ZX or 300ZX calipers

This will net you monster brakes, using (mostly) stock parts that are relatively easy to find.

Now, here's why you shouldn't.

Short primer on brake theory: Brakes don't stop a car. Tires do.

If you have massive brakes and skinny tires it will still stop like shit. Monster brakes with skinny front runner tires will take longer to stop than stock brakes with 8" wide slicks. Simple physics. You run skinny tires and put on big brakes, you're just going to lock them up. Every single time.

As a very talented race car engineer friend of mine is fond of saying, if you can lock the brakes, you don't have enough tire.  B)
