Temperature gauge

You don't throw parts at a Datsun, you find out what is wrong first and replace only what's needed.

 

If gas and temp gauge are both acting up it's likely the voltage regulator that is common to both that is at fault.

 

On a warmed up engine. Find the temp sender located on the front of the thermostat housing, it will have a Yellow/White strip wire on it. Make sure the connection is good and clean.

 

If still not working hold the Yellow/White wire to ground on the housing case. With the key on, the gauge should read full HOT.

 

No the gauge does not move... the problem isn't the sender but somewhere between the sender and the gauge. Could be the wire is broken or the gauge no good.

 

Yes the gauge read HOT. The gauge obviously works. The sender is presumed to be at fault.
