Abnrml1
I have an '81 720 KC 4x4 with stock wheels. I'm not sure if they are 5.5 or 6 inches wide. They have 215/75r/15 tires on them that need replaced. I would like to go with a 235/75 but I'm not sure if they will work with the stock rims. Some places say that a 235 could be mounted on a 6" rim and others say the rims should be 7". Anyone have a clue on this? I appreciate the help. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Well the '84 4x4 were... 5.5K X15 with 40 offset reg cab short wheelbase 6.0 JJ x15 with 34 offset King Cab and Long Bed The 235s are about an inch and a quarter wide and one inch taller. This means that when your speedometer reads 57.5MPH you will really be going 60. Any 15 " tire will fit any 15" rim unless insanely wide on narrow rim or wide rim on narrow tire. I think 1.25 " wider won't matter much. Look at current tire clearances and add about 3/4" on inside and outside.... does it rub anything? Hopefully it's not right under or outside the fender or it will bottom on them on big bumps. Quote Link to comment
