So- pics soon. Sorry for the delay. Carb on, planning on replacing all the vacuum hoses to ensure no leaks. Also- vacuum hoses- least favorite thing to mess with. My fingers must be too fat.

Could just delete a bunch of emissions but my goal is to keep it engine stock and dependable. For now.

Its been a short while but here's some pictures to add to the b210 story. I drove north to my brother's place several weeks ago and picked up a 5-speed transmission from a fairly rusted b210 GX. Got it cheap, including clutch and flywheel- as well as drive line all for something like $50.00. Also pulled the tail lights for a friend, steering wheel mount (that my brother forgot to get when I got the steering wheel), and center counsel which I gave to Edsierra.

Also received carb spacer I was missing, re-did all the vacuum lines leading to carb, and finally started her up. And she lives- happily. As I am having issues with my photobucket at the moment- I'll have to see if I can get engine pics up soon. But for now- she sits inside, away from the persistent dreary sky and rain we've been having.

Front lip is an mk1 two piece eBay grab. Seen them done before and it was cheap so I tried it out. Bolts up nicely with some minor drilling, have it mounted where original front valance bolts are. I've heard some people have used early Camaro lips as well.

I've read a lot about 5 speed swaps and the prices they go for vary soooo much. I got mine for a steal. However, with the one I grabbed I have to lengthen the clutch slave line as it's located on opposite side of transmission, and may have to delete neutral safety switch or figure something out. There are several write ups and I'll try to link one.

Mine is stamped 63A.

one of the links about the 63a. http://datsun1200.com/modules/mediawiki/index.php?title=63-Series_Transmission

When I pulled mine I pulled everything I could- transmission mount, speedo cable, hard line from clutch master to slave (i had to cut mine from the master but I can bend a new one with the original as a template), clutch and everything that secured it to the parts engine, as well as drive line.

It will be a short while till I place it in..but I believe I have everything I need.(just the time)

Also- and unreleated..kinda.. this happened. Another farm picked Datsun. (will be featured in its own forum build).  Wife initially wasn't too keen on "yet another datsun" but It runs, drives, and stops- and I got it for a great price. Buddy of mine snapped this photo as he brought in to me from Hazen, ND.

Sorry for picture quality, it was raining and all my buddy had was his cellphone. Also, once it arrived home- wife fell in love.

Rest assured-- I'm focusing on the b210 for now and this will be stored until I get some new tires for it- or if the wife loves it enough I'll let her play with it as a daily. Another Datsun harvested from a midwest farm.

I dare say you have the sickness! Congratulations!

---How this whole sickness began:

It all started with a 72 521- which I regretfully sold after putting my heart into. After that I had a '76 620 I drove 14 hours to get. Sadly that one had frame rail rust and it also sold. Then I went a year without one...trying my hand at a 72 vw squareback (which ended up being a complete waste of time). I soon found a 76 Mazda b1600 which I enjoyed for a bit...but it wasn't a Datsun. After a few months I posted it for sale and a young guy said he'd trade me a 74 Datsun 620 that needed some work. (Engine was torn apart, body rough, cab rusted at mounts. I didn't care, it was a Datsun and I traded him the Mazda.

As I'm rebuilding the 620, I came across a 67 520 for $100 and drove up north to get it. Sadly the engine was crap, and body worse than initially thought- so I parted it out. This is about the time I came across the b210 featured here. As I was hauling that 520 from ND to Rapid City, SD- we stopped at my grandfathers property and a guy saw the 520 and wondered why I was going to "spend my time on such a project". I told him I just enjoyed Datsuns, and not too many people know of anything other than the z-cars in my town. He told me that he had "an old white Datsun sitting on his property". Long story short- after a few weeks I drove back up and pulled the b210 home. Also a $100 car.

So with my current b210, and my 620, I've always been interested in owning a 510. Figured with this Datsun Trilogy- I'm not only be happy- but occupied for some time. This 510 seam to have wanted to be mine. It was posted on an online classified ad in ND, and I had messaged the guy way back in November. (At this time I was also planning my wedding in New Zealand). I told him if it was still around when I returned I'd pick it up, but I'd understand if it was gone before then. Well he posted it twice on eBay, actually getting more than what he initially wanted for it, but none of the buyers came through. 2 weeks ago he messaged me randomly asking if I'd still want it.

Yep. And here we are

I blame the movie midnight wangan that started my sickness. I was never into cars, now I'm going broke because of it. Pictures of the 510 to feed our addiction. B210 is looking sweet bud, don't ever sell it because you won't find a 2 door sedan for awhile for that price. I regretted that decision of my life, but I rather someone drive it than sit.

Thanks for the info. On the lip, man. I've been trying to look for one or one that fits with little modification. When you said mk1, you mean mk1 vw? The 5 spd swap for me would be a lot more to do since I'm going from auto to manual. Isn't your b210 a 4spd manual? And man how many datsuns you have?!?! Haha

Yes you are correct, the mk1 vw front lip will fit. My b210 is currently a 4 speed. Going to run it that way for awhile until I'm desiring more highway driving.

As for Datsuns I have 3 now- and locally I'm stirring up interest
