Sorry for the delay, Its been a busy few weeks. Selling parts off the 520 I brought home, and headed back north to pick up the 210. I stopped again a salvage yard close to my brother's house to source parts. And found a few goodies- ended up with new-ish steering wheel for 210 I brought home, and sourced a 5speed.

Five speed I pulled for $50.

Steering wheel I pulled.

And now here is my 210- tires were shot, few small things to address in wiring as mice seamed to like how it tasted in a few spots, but I'm happy to have only paid $100 for it.- pulled it home from a barn, now time to get busy!

Some of the wiring issues- surprises me as this thing was running and driving in November 2015.

Should have pulled the extra one I saw in the salvage yard

Also need to re-address the voltage regulator wiring. For some reason the male/female plastic connectors were cut and wires spade fastened together..lots of corrosion build up. Also, the other relay appears to be a little different from OEM.

Thats it for now

The yard has been good to me. I swear when old farmers die and their families want to clean up their storage areas/barns/etc...things end up here. I wish it was closer to me. For now, it gives me a reason to visit my brother and have him part pull for me.

I hear ya, sourcing parts is a bit difficult- but planning on getting as many rare and hard to find parts from the yard (in due time).

Side note, I love the smooth chrome bumpers people place on the 210s, most seam to come from Malaysia or Japan and can be pricey- but most of the links people have posted in their forums are broken or lead to dead sites- anyone have any leads?

Will be working on 210 today, more cleaning and writing a repair list.

Sorry for the delay in updates- lots of working not only on my Datsun projects, but also house repairs and wedding planning. (eloping to New Zealand- should be fun).

I mentioned awhile back that the b210 ran prior to me purchasing it from the farmer guy. Well, when I did pick it up I had noticed immediately that the wiring had been circuit tested by a few mice. Therefore my skills at soldering had to come out from slumber and tackle several chewed bits. I managed to fix most of the issues (few more to address).

As mentioned- and as some have asked, My brother was able to pull a clock from a b210 coupe from the yard in his neck of the woods. I was planning on keeping it for awhile but ended up striking a deal with Mr. Sierra in exchange of the clock with some cash for chrome bumpers. I am not familiar with the original clocks- but I usually end up checking my wrist watch anyway so I figured it was a fair deal. They should be arriving soon.

In the meantime, I spent some time cleaning up the engine bay, changing out fuel filter, and adjusting the original carb to idle steady. Timing is dead on, engine does not smoke, but I did notice a hole in the muffler. Soon to be fixed. After I fired it up, it blew out a small mouse nest before it sputtered to life. The smell of old mouse nest, droppings, burning off of a little  starting fluid, and hole in muffler did make for an initial cloud of raunchy exhaust fumes in the garage. This lead me to realize several things. A- I need to move car out and drive it in with rear facing the garage door, and B-I need new tires- that will hold air- to make A happen.

My house was built in 1906- the garage is small...but at least it'll keep her dry.

As I have been toying with doing a bumper swap I also sourced a fish-gill grille that came on the 120y. It arrived two days ago from Australia. Shipping was very quick to my door. Prior to placing it however, I did play around with the original front grille. Black came out fairly well.

To do next- (in no specific order or time frame)

- Await chrome bumpers in the mail, then place them

- figure out new turn lights- which should sit in the new bumpers- and wire them up

- new tires

- change out clutch slave cylinder- re bleed system

- clean this car up from top to bottom

- place Steering wheel that I snatched from the b210 hatch at the salvage yard

- prep body for fresh paint

Enjoy-

Cleaned up a little on the inside of b210 today, pulled up carpet and vacuumed them as good as I could. Also did a good de-dusting of the dash. I was going to place the steering wheel and realized my brother forgot to snatch up the column assembly to actually bolt the wheel onto. (now I wait for another package lol.) also, totally forgot the glove box door was loose. So...if anyone knows of a bracket piece or door all together- let me know.

Oh I know- and $5 for the steering wheel, wasn't bad for price- (God I love the salvage yard up North).

You have blue carpet too? And do you happen to know if the carpet is Royal blue or any other specific color name. I would like to get a new kit someday- but want to color match it as close as I can.

First: yall bragging about your carpeted B210s while a lot of us have rubber floors...

2nd: Nice steering wheel I have the same, ao much more comfortable, especially for spirited driving.

Third: Where did you buy the grille? Last I looked the repop company out of AU wouldnt ship internationally, especially a single unit!

Grille was purchased from Australian seller rotary_new_old_car_company. I've bought floor pans from them before for an old Mazda b1600 I had. All I did was search eBay Australia and looked up DATSUN NISSAN SEDAN COUPE 120y B210 front grille. And boom, there it was. I got it while it was on sale so I ended up paying more in shipping than the actual part- but I wanted it. Their ad usually doesn't specify international shipping, but all the parts I've got from them, they just link an invoice with how much the total cost would be- just have to ask I guess.

The carpet idea has been bouncing around in my mind for awhile- as my carpet has torn in the snap button areas and frayed pretty bad. If I could find a decent rubber mat I might go that route. Did not most badged honey b's just come with the rubber mats? (Read that somewhere)

hope to be working on my b210 this weekend. In between being sick and working too much, I haven't spent a lot of time messing with it.

It was a good truck- never let me down. Bed had the hooks and the Mazda stamp on the back turned many heads when I had it. But alas- traded it for a 74 620 so I could get back into my Datsuns.

Not trying to forum hop on topics by mentioning the truck, but this b210 project has put my 620 on hold for now- and I'm enjoying it so far.

thatdirtykid- I wish you luck on the Bumpers- Ed Sierra sold me a set he had and I couldn't be happier. I'm in the process of making custom brackets this weekend. I did find a set of bumper stays (mounts): part number 62671-H5000, and 62670-H5000 that another member had used. He got them from the UK several years ago.

I found the bumper stays using the part number search on a company called AutoSpares. http://en.autospares.lv/ - they are pricey due to shipping, and since they are such a small part I figured with the spare steel I had I could fab my own. - but just so you know.

Been working here and there on the b210 today. Took OEM US bumpers off, and front grille and placed the fish-gill grille I recently obtained. Also spent some quality time fabricating up brackets- but my phone was dead and I was unable to get pictures during that process. Thanks again Ed for the bumpers-

Placing the grille revealed to me that my hood needs some minor metal working- as it does not sit straight since front lip is a tad bent. Oh well- more updates soon.
