skyblue
I hope there is at least one stick she can drive. If you know what I mean. Hahaha. Oh tanker. That escalated quickly. You got a short term/long term list of things to do? Short term list is just getting it to stop good. Doing the gas tank filler hose mod. And slapping a weber downdraft. Quote Link to comment
racerx
Good your performing maintenance, also do a compression check. Quote Link to comment
skyblue
Good your performing maintenance, also do a compression check. PO told me he did a compression test and it has good number. But I'll probly do one myself as well. Quote Link to comment
racerx
Wise to double check. Make sure ur datsun is operating temp., open throttle wide open, use screw in type compression tester not plug in type, more accurate. Having a good compression engine is a good starting point before buying parts. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
get a elelctronic ignition of some sort. Most proplems with a Datsun is ignition related and points is the Killer besides overheating(warping a head) Oh no oil pressure(most girls/women always ask what does the oil light mean while still driving? 3 Quote Link to comment
skyblue
yep. i'll either go pertronix or matchbox. whichever crosses my path first i guess. Quote Link to comment

skyblue
So glad it went to a good home! yea thanks! so the battery died yesterday. Which is fine cause it was only really to get the car here from WA. so we got a brand new one. now the car fires up no problem. Also, the brakes still need some attention. the master is doing this weird thing where the front brakes reservoir gets lower and the rear brakes reservoir overflows. it will be fine to drive it to the dmv to get plates, but i think I'll just replace the master once we're all plated up. 2 Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
dont buy the rebuilt Masters with no tubes. They always seem to leak. Put a meter on the battery to make sure its chargin correctly with a load. I would get a solid state Volt reg as a spare. 1 Quote Link to comment

4perrev
Blue, I may have a shifter that is better. Just have to check the stock outside. I'll hit you back when I get out to the car tomorrow. Quote Link to comment
4perrev
So, I just looked in the car and mine is in the same shape, sorry. A guy could rewrap that in leather or vinyl to be good. Quote Link to comment
edekalil
I should have a shifter handle from one of two auto's that had been swamped out. I will look when I get back this Sunday. The biggest issue is locating it, shouldn't be too hard to locate. I'll let you know. Quote Link to comment

edekalil
Found this one less the rest so far. I think this came off the blue car. Not in the best shape itself. Let me know if you want it, I'll send it to you. Quote Link to comment

Let me know if you want it, I'll send it to you. Thanks man. I'm gonna hold off for now. Also, I installed the aftermarket gas filer hose. Voila! No more gas smell. Time will tell how durable these are. It went on fairly straight forward. The only negative is the hole dimples don't match up to the retaining plate so u have to make new holes. 2 Quote Link to comment
skyblue
Swapped the carb for a brand new weber 32/36 today. Car runs like new! And then I noticed a small leak from the top of the radiator. I attempted to solder it but it didn't stick too well. Hopefully it will hold till we get a new radiator. Car is ready for the road! It still needs work in other areas, but that's the datsun life we live. Lol. 6 Quote Link to comment
