510Goonies
For those of you running rear Camaro 743019 KYB AGX's in your Goon, how do you like them? Finished the front end of my goon, now moving to the rear and would like to run a shock with some adjust-ability with out breaking the bank. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If they are adjustable, then just get them and adjust to where you like them. Ride, control and comfort are extremely subjective so if there are 4 settings you'll get 4 answers. Like asking which do you like better, Mary Anne or Ginger. Quote Link to comment
russaroll
Mary Ann. Always 1 Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
Why not both? Mary Anne AND Ginger. Fuck it. You know Mrs. Howell needs it too. 1 Quote Link to comment
Dolomite
Maryanne because Ginger is probably a used up Hollywood whore and banging her would be like throwing a hotdog down a hallway. Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
That's why you hit her in the shitter. Quote Link to comment
russaroll
this will prolly be my next buy. i'm not to happy with the air shocks. Quote Link to comment
510Goonies
lol you guys are too much! Quote Link to comment
510Goonies
I noticed that the camaro shocks are 2 inches bigger in height and length. I only want to drop the rear of my goon about an inch or two, will the difference in size still work? I'm assuming yes since people are running them on lowered goons. Stock 510 Wagon shocks Camaro rear shocks Quote Link to comment
flatcat19
BS. You'll only lower it an inch. Then you'll get hooked on being lower. It will eat at you. You will become obsessed. You will need to join Lowrider anonymous. Nothing will ever be right in the world until you are scraping nuts. Don't lie. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Just buy some qa1 shocks. Your pocket says how fancy you get. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Depends on the method of lowering. If drop blocks the shock length remains the same. 1 Quote Link to comment
datsunfreak
Depends on the method of lowering. If drop blocks the shock length remains the same. What he said. Extended shackles would also get you a little more stroke on the shock... Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Blocks increase axle wrap. Quote Link to comment
INDY510
Are you sure longer shocks in a wagon is a thing? .... I've only heard of Camaro shocks on 510 sedans Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Blocks increase axle wrap. It will on a car that suffers from it already. First the car would have to have enough power to do so on take offs, or with very soft springs to begin with. The 510 has neither. I can't imagine anyone lowering a car and not increasing the spring rate at the same time anyway. In reality, it's doesn't affect much on a 510 with good shocks and springs. Quote Link to comment
510Goonies
I could have sworn people were using them on wagons. maybe i have been miss reading but it looks like they would work just compressed two inches. but it might be worth looking into some that are a closer fit Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
The only thing to avoid is bottoming them out. Stock suspension will bottom out on the bump stops well before the stock shocks do anyway. Generally, the lower you go the firmer the spring should be. This reduces suspension travel and bottoming. In the extreme, driving around sitting on the stops or trimming the bump stops, you may as well remove the shocks completely as there is little to no suspension movement. You're trading suspension for tire flex Quote Link to comment
