510er
With all the new people on here i wanted to bump this and maybe make it a sticky in the classified section. Read through the thread and if you need something rare repaired let me know and we can work something out. Prices are negotiable in exchange for datto parts. :) Quote Link to comment
Jables
As soon as the 510 has a new place to stay i may be shipping you a big box. I haven't pulled the 1/4's just yet but they are looking pretty bad. Think you can fix this? Quote Link to comment
510er
yea, they are going to be worse on the inside. if you read through the thread, the cheapest way is if you remove the glass and the rubber, but thats up to you. once they are out ship them on up ill sand blast them and then give you a price quote, if you dont like the quote then i will ship them back no big deal no charge for the blasting just the shipping. Also i take datto parts for trade :) Quote Link to comment
Jables
If i had anything worth trading i'd definetly be up for that for sure. Unless you need new aftermarket stuff thats about all i can get my hands on. But as soon as i get them out ill let you know for sure. Quote Link to comment
510er
you should probably squirt some penetrating oil on all the screws now so that you atleast have a chance not to strip them haha Good luck and i hope to hear from you soon Quote Link to comment
Jables
oh there is only three screws holding both of them in so i don't think that will be the problem. I think the issue might be getting the glass out.. That im a little nervous about.. Quote Link to comment
510er
I would still squirt the penetrate on the screws mine looked good from the outside but its hard to get enough pressure on them to break them free. Here is what i did to get the windows out. when your looking at the window the flat end piece has 4 screws holding it in, you need to peel the outer rubber off and then soak those screws and remove them. once they are out the flat end section will "slide" off, i had to use a rubber mallet and lots of patience, since the window rubber will be replaced anyway i cut the rubber that touches the window with a razor blade, cut it all the way around on both sides. Once you have the end piece off then i would spray some more penetrant down the sides of the window to help lube the glass. then "slide" the glass out of the frame. Its a pain in the ass, and if you want me to do it I can charge you for it :) haha if that dosnt make sense i can send you some pictures and such Quote Link to comment
Jables
thanks for the direction.. As soon as i have the time to get them out i will see how comfortable i feel about doing them.. Quote Link to comment
Super X
My quarter glass is also rusted like Jables. I was going to just replace them but if I can have them repaired I think I may go that route. I'll keep you in mind in a few weeks/months. Quote Link to comment
510er
Yea, you can find other 1/4 windows around but why spend the money for someone elses problems. Jables like i said, if you are not comfortable with it wrap the hell out of them with bubble wrap and ship them on up and i will take them all apart. Just to reiterate, what you will get back will be fully restored, and like knew window frames. Quote Link to comment
510er
so anyone need some stuff fixed? Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
This work looks really nice, I am glad there is someone on here offering up another service to the dattos to help keep them on the road :) seems like a lot of money, but the end product sure looks good :D Quote Link to comment
510er
well it seems like alot of money... BUT you can not go anywhere and buy brand new 1/4 windows... I can take your junk ones and make them LIKE NEW for less than what it would cost in pain of watching your expensive paint job bubble because of rust within a few months or a year Quote Link to comment
510er
bump bump for more people to see that magic! check out the whole thread! :) Quote Link to comment
