CGraves
I'm trying to get the sound deadening out of my 240z but I'm 3 hours in and I'm barely halfway through. I did some research and lots of people say that dry ice and isopropyl alcohol will make this stuff fall off. Anyone have any experience with using this stuff? Quote Link to comment
tr8er
Tanker just did it a few weeks ago Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Even regular ice helps. That stuff gets brittle the colder it is. So yes, use dry ice. Usually you can just hit the deadener with a hammer after dry ice and it will just shatter up off the floor. 1 Quote Link to comment
tr8er
If you have a bottle of that keyboard/electronics compressed air blower stuff flip it upside down and it'll freeze whatever you spray at. Dry ice is cheaper Quote Link to comment
Tucson620
I took mine out using dry ice, and recommend that method if you're committed. Have seen the heat gun ridiculous scrape mess. First question: do you need to do it? Broke up a blocks into chips and sprinkled around the floor area, pushed around with leather gloves to the next area. Was able to break up and even pull 6" plates of the stuff off - hammer and scraper were main tools. For the sides, just applied a full brick-sized block for 30 seconds in each spot. For me, this was the absolute bottom of the project - dash out, wires hanging everywhere, on knees smashing and scraping, etc. Try to keep your spirits up! :) Quote Link to comment
