Ignition mods for the 810?

Recommended Posts

Been thinking about tweaking the ignition on the 810.

Since it already has electronic ignition , could i benefit fron just adding an MSD blaster coil and advance timing + 98 octane gas?

Not in my opinion. The Nissan EI system is more than you will ever need. Shiny expensive after market 'stuff' is like fishing lures.... they catch fishermen, not fish.

The octane and timing increase you can try yourself, but keep track of your miles per gallon. Sometimes the small gain will offset the increase in gas price. If you had higher compression it might but I would doubt it's worth the cost. Again, give it a try but the MSD... waste of money.

Im inclined to try a new coil tho.

Fotrgot to mention my C.R is 9:1 and not stock 8:6 beacuse it has a c31 laurel block with very small dish pistions (info in my project thread)

Anyway the car is not a daily driver so its not an issue if it gets thirsty :-)

Don't be fooled by shiny things, just paint your coil red or yellow. The EI coil is 0.8 to 1.0 ohms. Many coils are 1.5 ohm and will have even less output. Even if the correct impedance how do you know it has better output, because they say so? Trust your original equipment. After market dealers rely on people believing that there stuff is better. Don't get taken in by hype.
