Schocks, water pump, timing chain and dampers oredered yesterday. Should be going together tonight givin that the timing chain arrives today

 

Did you order an extra head gasket or two to bring along in case there is another burnout situation?

Bring the parts and it'll be done.

Head gasket and some RTV. 

 

At Shasta I brought tools for the head gasket job and it turned out we needed em.

i had tools with me canby last year, i'll add in torque wrenches as well. and rtv. don't like rtv myself though

It's recommended for the corners of the head gasket to front cover.

RTV has its place.

 

Draker mentioned one of those.

Rebuild guide also recommends placing it around coolant passages of timing cover gasket.

 

playing with my golf, i found it in places that it didn't belong in. that's more my problem with it, people putting it on everything

It's a clear indicator that so.e hack has been messing with shit.

 

 

Through work, and most modern cars, RTV is the main sealant. It's everywhere.

It is only when you see too much spilling out between surfaces do you realize that you're following up repairs by a hack.

sensors in a coolant flange and between coolant flange and head. the guy was chasing a leak, took care of it long enough for me to drive the car for a year. need to replace a bunch of gaskets on that car and will eventually (maybe) get to it

I'm gonna need one of you guys to help me put in a head gasket when i get there.

We did mine in about 2hours last year.ill be bringing my cordless ratchet to speed things up.ill try to remember to bring my wedge for the timing chain this time too
