Dream510
My trunk is full of rust! Lots of water gets trapped along the trunk seal so it's pretty damn rusty. I was trying to get these 1/4 window trim pieces off the 68'. Not really sure how to take them off, so I started looking around which led me to these two screws on the top of the door. I put some pb blaster to help take them off but I ended stripping the screws. These 1/4 vents are pretty nice. I thought about putting them on the 72' but they don't screw in like the later 510's. Some more pics of the 68', bunch of shit I found in the car lol Mmm rust hole! Anyone want some smokes? Beautiful dash shot! Bunch of shit in the trunk Old carb that came with the car 1 Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
We rebuilt the trunk gutters on my sons 85 celica with POR15 and thin fiberglass mat ,, worked pretty well for places you can't or don't normally,, see . Just wet mat out ,, lay in trench smooth out carefully with disposable brush ,, then when close to dry stick another piece (wetted out) on the back side,, you will be amazed at how well it works. 3 Quote Link to comment
Dream510
Sounds pretty convincing, I'd love to give it a try! How well does it hold up? Quote Link to comment
bananahamuck
Holds up pretty good my buddy did the whole front floor of a 60s econoline van that was wasted with rust holes and the floor was still sturdy at least 6-7 years later when he sold it. ,just make sure you tape off everything you don't want black,,, and it sticks to your skin like death on a goldfish. Stuff smells like superglue so i treat it like it is. 1 Quote Link to comment

Dream510
I think I'm gonna stay with them jrock, I'm gonna keep them on the 68' since I'm gonna keep the car! I was planning on putting them on the 72' but they don't screw in. 1 Quote Link to comment
scooter stuff
Do you have the D-A-T-S-U-N badge that goes between the tail lights on the '68? If not, I have one that I could part with. Quote Link to comment

Dream510
Update!! Iv'e decided foos gold needs a bit more ooomph! That's right boys, I'll be terrorizing the streets even more. Sooo, I've been searching Craigslist for an l20b but people want way too much money for them... I found an l20 block in P-town and picked it up. My l16 currently has a w58 head so I thought it would be a good idea to throw that on the l20 block I picked up. Time for some oicsters!!! Don't have an engine stand yet so it's on a tire for now. Lil bit of damage on the piston but it'll buff right out. In the middle of the cylinder wall there is a long raise where the scratches are. I'm a bit worried that it might be something bad. Big thanks to my boy rhino13 for the extra parts! 3 Quote Link to comment
KoHeartsGPA
What's the history on that motor? Quote Link to comment
Draker
Was that motor from a guy that lives off the 205.. like Oregon city area? Quote Link to comment
Dream510
Don't really know the history on it. The dude said that the piston damage was from a bad timing! That's the guy draker, should I be worried? Quote Link to comment
Draker
No.. I don't think so. I bought a head from him. #4 had a bend valve. 1 Quote Link to comment

KoHeartsGPA
Your head was on this motor, I just expanded the pic and confirmed that the dinged piston is #4  Quote Link to comment
Draker
The head looked like it had recently been rebuilt. I still tore it down and lapped the valves. Replaced one valve.. now putting it back together. 1 Quote Link to comment

bananahamuck
Can you click your finger nail in this groove?? Or is it an optical illusion? If it is deep sharp groove you will want to use an expandable hone as a ball hone might not clean it up enough to not bang your rings in a pretty short period of time... NOT a deal killer to have some of that groove still there when your done,,, ( if it is there of course) , but you definitely wanna soften it up a bit 4 Quote Link to comment
KoHeartsGPA
It be good idea to remove all the pistons to inspect the rings, I'm wondering if those marks on that cylinder wall is from a broken ring, while you're at it inspect the rod bearings on the crank shaft  1 Quote Link to comment
Dream510
Thanks nana, I didn't really notice until you told me! I'll get it honed soon, hopefully it'll take care of that... Thanks for the pointers KO, I'll check all that out! 1 Quote Link to comment
