paradime
http://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/01/03/full-story-on-whats-going-on-in-oregon-militia-take-over-malheur-national-wildlife-refuge-in-protest-to-hammond-family-persecution/ Thanks Matt, I knew there was more to this than met the eye. True, this story is being twisted three ways to Sunday by the media. The articles and news blips I've seen so far were characterizing Bundy as an outside agitator, so I'm glad I asked. Fucking outraged, but I wish I could say I was shocked. It's yet another CLEAR example of Government misuse of power. I hope this family has a good lawyer and PR spokesperson, because this story could pull other skeletons out of the Gov's closet. I wonder who is really pulling the strings here, because it appears there's a bunch of agencies working together to fuck this family. Suggests this goes high up the chain. (?) Those fuckers need to be hauled out into the light of day and "questioned"... with a very big stick. 1 Quote Link to comment
tr8er
The truth is definately not characterized in either sides articles. And the Hammonds appear blindsided by the Bundys. Quote Link to comment
KoHeartsGPA
It's "our government" being exposed for what they really are....muricans need to wake up before its too late. 1 Quote Link to comment

Mattndew76
The truth is definately not characterized in either sides articles. And the Hammonds appear blindsided by the Bundys. The Hammond family didn't ask for the camp-out at the park buildings. The family did make a plea for help with the $400,000 fine the Federal judge levied in a FML situation. I am not sure how the militias got involved though. Rumors spread like wild fire though.... Quote Link to comment

HRH
That's actually not too bad an article. Clears up the fires. I wondered about the arson charge, seemed a bit odd. Definitely hard to say seeing as I'm not in Oregon but I'm leaning more towards the ranchers at this point. Now I'm going to go eat some poultry. 1 Quote Link to comment
Mattndew76
The two Hammond men have since surrendered themselves to the federal prison for 4 years of incarceration. Quote Link to comment

Mattndew76
Yes. I cannot help but wonder if that is a double jeopardy type situation......Then again I haven't spent much time reading about double jeopardy laws. So I cant really accurately opine with facts. Just sucks by everything that I have read. This family and others who used to own all the adjacent land to the refuge had been targeted. Why does the BLM want the land so bad? 1 Quote Link to comment
paradime
So who is this quote to be applied too? The people standing up for their rights or the government? The Hammond family needs a friend and have found it in the Cliven Bundy family who have stood up against evil. So this is even more relevant.... Here is a really old one... Elected government should fear it's people, people should not fear their elected government. Climb down off your high horse Mike. Then please read this article, so you can see what I was talking about. Bundy was not wanted there by the locals. In 20/20 hindsight, go back and read my quote. Now, feel free to eat your words... again. https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/in-oregon-frustration-over-federal-land-rights-has-been-building-for-years/2016/01/04/9bc905a2-b330-11e5-a76a-0b5145e8679a_story.html 1 Quote Link to comment

The locals and the Hammonds are probably just simple law abiding folk that are just obeying the law of the land. This doesn't mean that Bundy is wrong for standing up for their rights just because they don't or can't. First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Martin Niemoller ^^^^^pretty much all those folks are now protected classes and I have no issue with that. the fascists now have very different targets for their oppression. First they came for the Smokers, and I did not speak out because I was not a Smoker. Then they came for the SUV Owners, and I did not speak out because I was not a SUV Owner. Then they came for the Christians, and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Christian. Then they came for the Gun Owners, and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Gun Owner. Then they came for the Journalists, and I didn’t speak out because I wasn’t a Journalist. Then they came for me, and there was no one left to speak for me. or First they came for the full autos and silencers, and I did not speak out because I did not own full autos or silencers. Then they banned trading guns across state lines, and I did not speak up because I bought my guns in state. Then they came for the semi-automatic rifles with 2 cosmetic features, and I did not speak up because I did not have any semi-automatic rifles with 2 cosmetic features. Then they came for the semi-automatic rifles with 1 cosmetic feature, and I did not speak up because I did not have any semi-automatic rifles with 1 cosmetic feature. Then they came for the pump action shotguns with pistol grips, and I did not speak up because I did not have any pump action shotguns with pistol grip. Then they restricted ammunition magazines to 30 rounds, and I did not speak up because none of my ammunition magazines were larger than 30 rounds. Then they came for all semi-automatic rifles, and I did not speak up because I did not have any semi-automatic rifles. Then they came for the ammunition magazines over 10 rounds, and I did not speak up because none of my magazines were larger than 10 rounds. Then they came for the semi-automatic handguns, and I did not speak up because I did not have any semi-automatic handguns. Then they came for the pump action shotguns, and I did not speak up because I did not have any pump action shotguns. Then they came for the revolvers, and I did not speak up because I did not have any revolvers. Then they came for the bolt action rifles, and I did not speak up because I did not have any bolt action rifles. Then when they came for the double barreled shotguns and single shot rifles, there was no one left to defend them from government confiscation. 1 Quote Link to comment

Explains the dilemma much better about the legality of a re-sentence. Seems the federal attorney wasn't happy with the result so they waited a while and appealed to the 9th circuit. 1 Quote Link to comment
