LUIS COLCHETE
Hi! I have a intake Harada and i want a best compatible header for it... I ve grind a stock a14 one but is to heavy and im afraid from high temperatures, there ar minimal clearence betewwen them. Please let me know a best choice. Some members advice me a H89 but i think, i will have the same problem the exhaut hit the the intake this one is on net market to sell... Some people have headers made on inox (short durability?) What do you think? Share with me what you have in yours Datsun 1200....... Many thanks on advance Luis Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Unless racing and needing every possible amount of power the only advantage to a 'header' is it is lighter. What a header is, is... Noisy Runs hotter under hood temperatures. Almost always poorly made and have poor fit and leak. They rust out. Expensive. You will never 'feel' the difference driving around town. If there is a HP gain, it is all at the top RPM end of the spectrum.* * If you have a larger carb or carbs, modified (ported) intake and exhaust with larger valves and a stronger cam you will see more results than with a stock engine. For the most part, the money spent on a header could be better spent on something else. Other than weight how is a header worth the bother? Tell the truth most of the gains are in the driver's head. Burabuda
what he said ^ i think the only time a header makes sense on an a-series if it's on a race car if you do it anyway be aware some headers foul the intake Quote Link to comment
LUIS COLCHETE
I ve just grind it a bit, to join the header to the head surface, but it is a quite grind... there is a litle break, but the gasket will cover it... Exist a header which that i dont need to grind to much? Quote Link to comment
LUIS COLCHETE
I have just grind the header, and i assembly them in cylinder head. I have a doubt, if you see the picture the intake is to closed to header. Im afraid when the header get it hot becames closer to the intake and broke it, there is a smalll clearance between them Give me your opinions... and advices Many thanks on advance Luis Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes that combination is a bit close. You could remove some metal from the aluminum intake as well. Paint the exhaust and the intake silver or white to reduce radiated heat. Is it possible that the two intakes are swapped and on the wrong side??? Could moving them give more clearance? LUIS COLCHETE
Hi! Thanks Unfortenately the intakes are correctly assembled... i ill grind the header as much it possible... the intake i wont grind it .... it was a quiet spent.... if i cant get a safety clearance i must choose a difrent header..... Any ideias.... Many thanks Luis Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I don't like them but you may have to go with a tubular header... Quote Link to comment
LUIS COLCHETE
Next week i will buy this header, i will see if makes longer kms and years with no problems.... Quote Link to comment
LUIS COLCHETE
Hi! Please let me me know the best choice: I ve see this picture from a menber and i decide to find a similiar one in my country and i find it. What do you think it is better than the another? Less wldings an more direct. The seller told the header fits with weber carbs, i told them i have a harada intake they fit with weber and solex. My problem still the clearance again? I ve made several changes in engine datsun 1200, i dont know how much hp it males, but maybe 85 or 95. The header i ve find has 1.5" tubular pipe. Let me know if 1.75" is a better choice for exhaust piping? " or keep 1 1/2" stndard? Many thanks on advance Luis Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
I would stay with the smaller pipe size to keep the gas speed higher. That header look good! Quote Link to comment
LUIS COLCHETE
My will be equal Quote Link to comment
njoz1200ute
Headers on an A series, why the f not? Don't belittle our beloved A series. They make it sound even better than it already does. Adds a small amount of hp, the stock engine only has about 67hp so any gain is beter than none. If i had 300hp and gained 2hp than who cares. And they look awesome. Go for it. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Have to agree on the header, but only because the stock exhaust manifold does not clear the intake properly. Still maintain that they are... Noisy Runs hotter under hood temperatures. Almost always poorly made and have poor fit and leak. They rust out. They come loose. Live about 3-5 years, with luck and attention. Expensive. You will never 'feel' the difference driving around town. If there is a HP gain, it is all at the top RPM end of the spectrum.* Quote Link to comment
LUIS COLCHETE
Hi! The Iron Cast from A14, has 41mm diâmeter, i think i will order the tubular one with the same size, as well the rest of exhaust pipe. The shop as only 41 mm tubular header What do you think? datsunfreak
I ve see this picture from a menber and i decide to find a similiar one in my country and i find it. That header look good! It's made by Kirk Racing for Nissan Motorsport. It's a race car part, but it's made very well, and not prone to leaking/cracking/rusting like many of the cheaper versions. Maybe see if they will ship you one? http://www.kirkracing.com/headers.html Quote Link to comment

It worth it, buy some heater wrap and put on header to avoid high temperatures against carbs? i have no big clearence to increase a metal shield between them. Or do nothing!
