banzai510(hainz)
no i think it might hit when you gas it hard unless you got rock solid engine mounts. guys up here say I should put a V8 in my green 521 also. But I notice they are driving Hondas accords 1 Quote Link to comment
Anderson521
Shit then ill have to get me some torque straps! I haven't tested the theory yet but if the flywheel spins clockwise it'll move left to right and I got plenty of space on the passenger side. Quote Link to comment
Rick-rat
Chevrolet motors torque to the left , initially, (drivers side) under acceleration Sorry my mistake, torque to the right Quote Link to comment
Anderson521
Well there it is, ill just have to see what possible damage it will do once I get it running at full potential, thanks for the insight Quote Link to comment
DaBlist
Chevrolet motors torque to the left , initially, (drivers side) under acceleration Front North South mounted V8's will try and lift on the drivers side 1 Quote Link to comment

paradime
Here's the headers next to the steering column, it's got about 1/16-1/8 gap Could you weld a 1/2" steal rod in there to replace that section of the column? That would get you enough room to wrap the headers. 1 Quote Link to comment
sebpv
Cut the column and the rod and incorporate joints to clear the manifold.. Its been done 1 Quote Link to comment
Anderson521
Yeah that datstang guy did it, certainly wouldn't be a bad idea it's just I'm evolving the truck as I go along. If i drive it and the clearance is too tight then ill get into it. I'm not a loaf I just got a lot of ground to cover on the build 2 Quote Link to comment
paradime
Been there, sometimes you have to pick your battles, or a project like this can stall for months at a time. Hell, push comes to shove you can slightly ding the pipe at the point where it makes contact. Best of luck. 1 Quote Link to comment

Anderson521
Since Im using a short water pump the standard alternator bracket doesn't allow the pulleys to line up so the solution is a header mount bracket. It's on a slider so if you have double groove pulleys you can choose front or back Quote Link to comment

fritzdixxon
Here's the headers next to the steering column, it's got about 1/16-1/8 gap. This is a BIG PROPLEM hopefully you get that better or maybe the stock cast manifold might fit better dont throw away the datsun 521 manifold and the Y pipe with it, people can use them I could use the y pipe. What diffyou going with 8.8? Quote Link to comment
fritzdixxon
=http://s1190.photobucket.com/user/Anderson521/media/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zpsx93lubqc.jpg.html][/url] They should go under the hood or in the cab, I hate it when a sleeper gets badges telling everyone its a sleeper. Anderson521
I sold the engine and those parts like a week after I bought the truck. And yes most likely the 8.8 with a posi. I was even thinking a gm 12 bolt because it's 6 lug but it might be larger than the datsuns pattern haven't investigated. As far as the badges goes I was thinking fender well, firewall or dash Quote Link to comment
