dialup_2001
My name is Andrew and I am a Datsunholic!!! Got my first one when I was 12 and still got it, that was 22 years ago! (Bit of a triggers broom) Here are some of them at a car show a few days ago ...and some Datsun A10 porn ...and more So what do you think? Please someone explain is a MK1 a 710 and a MK2 this with the totally chrome bumpers and high back seats and the MKIII the rest of my collection? and if so why isn't the square headlamp a MK4? Oh, I have other Datsuns as well, including two more A10s 6 Quote Link to comment
HRH
What sort of crazy shit is this?! I might even like this guy! ;) And actually, I think that's almost all the A10s left in the states that didn't get eaten by rust, lol. 1 Quote Link to comment
dialup_2001
We only have about 20 known A10s in England (Agreed???) and only 9 are registered so really shit, people just scrap scrap stuff here. Not many hoarders to keep the cars alive. Can anyone explain MK1, MK2 and Mk3 Mk4??? I am going to make a register of all the A10s left in the world, what would a good name be for the site, I believe we call them (in England) 160J and 140J or Violet, Australia call them Stanza, Mexico??? call them Auster and you call them 510 so would Datsun A10 be the best universal name for them? 1 Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
You sir have an addiction. Honestly, though. Awesome collection. I don't know enough about A10s to answer your question about best universal name though. I think A10 is the best?... What's the chassis code, thats likely the most universal. Quote Link to comment
505plus5
Hi, Dialup Welcome I think your Datsuns are our 510s. Just not the shape of our/the '68-'73 body styles but later. Mk1, 2... I think those are Volkswagens: Rabbits, etc... A10craze.com There you have it! Hahahahah ;-) ...just what came to mind, bro. Cool collection too, man! Quote Link to comment

Burabuda
@Andrew welcome! i know a lot of brits are reticent about mingling with yanks but i hope you'll make yourself at home here  did you see this? http://www.datsun-france.com/Ratdat/ratdatblog/?p=12225#more-12225 Quote Link to comment
dialup_2001
I did, I have the front wings off of it, I offered them £1500 for the shell cut in half just so I had enough repair parts to fix some of mine but they refused! Wanted silly prices for some parts as well. Real shame though isn't it. I couldn't sleep that night!! How could they be so thick and issue a certificate of destruction (game over for going back on the road in England), if they had any sense they would have asked / told the scrap man that they were selling it, it would have made £3000 in that condition (as I would have gone at least that high!) Still, I continue my hunt, I know of about 20 in total in this country, still, they pop up every six months or so in garages and barns and fields! Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
Never heard of the Mk I II III IV OR V designation. The body style is A10 (stamped on the cowl area behind above the valve cover) and in North America called simply a 510 though to keep from confusing it with the original '68-'73 PL510 we like to say HL510 or later 510. In Japan the A10 is badged Sentra? In other countries something else? but they are all A10 underneath. There were engine and cosmetic changes during the '80 model year in the '80 US A10, and the new NAPS Z20 engine was installed and square headlamps mid year. In Canada the old L20Bengine was retained, but only through '80. I see you don't yet have an estate car represented. Were they available there? Quote Link to comment
67411sss
In new Zealand some of those would be called a datsun 200b Quote Link to comment
dialup_2001
Most of my '79 A10s have DATSUN 160J SSS VIOLET MKIII on the logbook, these are pre-facelift versions ie round headlamps and early dash, we never had the estate or the 2 door saloon, a coupe would always make well over £2000 even if it was rough, £3000 with an mot and in reasonable condition but absolute mint ones £5000, £6000 one suitable for parts only would still make £1000. We only have the L14 and L16 engined versions. Quote Link to comment
dialup_2001
I am looking for a 2 door sedan saloon to add to the collection and would consider flying anywhere in the world for a few days holiday next year when I have the money and time and then shipping / driving it back. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated! Need a wagon before I die as well Quote Link to comment
