Fuel Pump Options for L20B

This is an update to this thread.

Swapping a L20B into a 1974 Datsun Truck with an L18

The stock L18 engine I removed has a mechanical fuel pump.

The L20B engine I installed has a fuel pump block-off plate.

I don't know much about the L20B I installed except I was told it was a good running engine when it was removed from whatever it was removed out of.

My guess is they were running some type of electrical fuel pump?

Can I simply remove the block off plate and install the fuel pump off the old engine or purchase a new/rebuilt fuel pump and install it?

Is there a pushrod or any other component or adjustment to make when installing a mechanical fuel pump?

I'm a Chevy guy so I'm very acquainted with installing mechanical fuel pumps onto small block and big block Chevy's. I've also installed and wired electrical fuel pumps for custom applications, for example when I put a big block in a 1959 Cadillac there was no room for the stock mechanical fuel pump so I installed an electrical pump back at the gas tank and wired it into an oil pressure switch so if I wrecked the car or flipped it, once the engine died the fuel pump would quit pumping fuel. (Safety first).

Suggestions? Recommendations? Sage Wisdom?

Thanks,

Mike

just swap the fuel pump over. no need to rebuild it they're bullet proof and last forever. no adjustments or extra parts needed. oh make sure to use the spacer thats with it.

Apprediate the information. Will do the change today.

Thanks!
