I knew of a guy on Maxima.org forums that used the 280ZX turbo exhaust manifold and turbo to make a turbo diesel Maxima. Says he used just a small amount of boost to up torque. He had a 5-speed and claimed to get close to 40mpg highway. Probably with a 3.36:1 rear Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic Posted June 4, 2007 Report Share Posted June 4, 2007 He should have upped the boost as much as the head and manifolds can take- diesels LOVE air. All the turbodiesels I worked with (mostly Cummins B series, but a few Continentals) didn't even have BOVs. Used pretty big Holset turbos on those. Over 700 ft/lbs torque on those.
