banzai510(hainz)
Love the updates. I think you can swap parts in the distributors. Quote Link to comment

tekkjosen
Sorry, didn't think of that ;) Couldn't see any big differences myself other than the part no. mabye because the L16 dizzy is pretty empty tho :P But pics here : Would have been really easy if i could just swap the dizzys :) L16 dizzy : Part no. L14 : Also wants to buy some new water hoses for the engine, would have loved some white silicone hoses, but think it would be expensive to get ? Does anyone here know where to buy original or aftermarket ones or the part number for a full set ? :) Think it's time for some new ones :P Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
Just basing off what the pic's show id say the dizzy's are interchangeable Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
Whats wrong with them??????? they single point diistributors. They work or they don't.. The points themselves are usualy the same on early datsuns/ as like the single point 510s in the USA. 68-69 years. Or in other countries you can can convert this to a Pertonix conversion also part number 1741 if you can find them in your country https://vimeo.com/19077890 Quote Link to comment

banzai510(hainz)
swapped?? you mean inside the parts??? or just the distributor from one motor to the other. If you watch the vid about half way it show I install many different distributors Quote Link to comment

Is it magnet controlled like many motorcycles have on their flywheel ? :) And spotted a few on ebay when I searced for it so think it's no problem to get one to Norway :) Quote Link to comment

banzai510(hainz)
yes the whole distributor with the mount. so it all lines up correctly. Most time the mount will be the same but not always. OK make it EZ for you watch it naked!!!!!!!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aBTjhJMByo&index=6&list=PL8EF51386855F2B58 1 Quote Link to comment

tekkjosen
13.03.16 (Part 1) Bought some more paint last week for the weekend, continued with the engine bay yesterday :) But got home and into the garage seeing a solid scratch on the left side of the car... Unluckily my dad was backing in a trailer in the garage and hit my car :hmm: a bit annoying since this was some of the few places I didn't have to do any work on the car  But anyways, started grinding the front in the engine bay :) More examples of rust just covered over with some dark blue paint :hmm: And flakes with bodyfiller on the front fender i can peel off with my fingernails  Grinded down and made it ready for painting :) Covered up and painted Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
(Part 2) Painted the front cover for the engine white to :) Started on the front "middle bar" :) The top screw just kept on spinning and didn't help to press it out from the backside while screwing so did it easy and cut it off :) Will do the finish next weekend I think, when I also starts a week + with eastern vacation so hope to get some done then :) Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
18.03.16 Came back home for the easter today, and went to the post office to pick up some wheels I bought from Japan a little while ago. So thanks to Member Greased monkey for selling me the wheels  14" Hayashi Techno racing wheels  Was planned to repaint them with white centers, but liked the gold color with the blue on the car so will mabye repaint them in the same color later :) Will try to get some more work done tomorrow :) Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
Just to be sure, interchangeable means they're able to be swapped ? :P Yes, you can run both dizzys on both motors from what I can tell 1 Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
21.03.16 (Part 1) Continued in the engine bay yesterday, grinded down and painted :) Took off these and stored them in case I later could see what was written on them :) More screws that snapped off before I got them out (for the rubber thingys on the radiator frame) Alot of bodyfiller and some rust underneath the latest layer of paint. Took off the fender to :) Took off the washer fluid tank so I could reach the inner wall :) Also can't understand why someone would cover over this nice color with some ugly half done layer with paint that peels off just by looking at it  Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
(Part 2) Covered up and painted :) Also took the worst of the dirt off the dizzy while some paint was drying :) (not finished yet) Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
Takes time but they can end up lookn pretty sharp! Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
Takes time but they can end up lookn pretty sharp! Wow, nice ! B) Finished a couple of days ago, didn't end up quite as good as that, but at least it's clean ! ^_^ Will be a new update tomorrow I think, almost finished in the engine bay, just have to clean a bit more and cover up and paint ! :) Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
If you pull the vaccumm advance and paint it I think it really completes the look :) Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
If you pull the vaccumm advance and paint it I think it really completes the look :) Yeah, became a nice finish on the dizzy with the painted vaccum advance ! :) thought about painting it too. but will se, mabye I'll do it later :) doesn't look so good now tho :P Quote Link to comment
Eagle_Adam
I found a wire brush attachment on my drill did the most for the appearance of the dizzy Just my $0.02 1 Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
29.03.16 (Part 1) Got some work done the last couple of days, grinded down the rest in the engine bay and painted it, so I'm as good as finished in the engine bay now, just a little small finishing before I can put the engine in again  So started with cleaning on and around the car, have been filled up with loads of junk on it over the last couple of weeks so good to clean up in some of that :) Finished the dizzy clean, looks like it got some dark spots of dirt on it, but figure it's just some corrosion :) didn't go over with a steelbrush, just cleaned the dirt off it :) Continued grinding in the engine bay :) Wasn't as affected by rust on this side as the other side, so took mostly just were I spotted rust, and let some paint be :) Spottted some rust behind the steering gear (?) if that's the word in English ? :P So I unbolted it and detached it from the steering column, first time I've taken this apart, so for some reason I thought I had to place the steering column at the same spot I had detached it from, but realised it wasn't nececcary when I looked more into it :P, so that explains the tape ;) Steering column in the way for some rust to so removed that :) Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
(Part 2) So finished the grinding :) Washed over with some thinner And ready to cover up and paint ! :) painted Quote Link to comment
