tekkjosen
04.11.15 Cleaned the bottom of the carb, and then I started to put it back together again yesterday :) Scraped off all the gaskets Everything cleaned, then over to the mounting  Only got to take some of the jets, have to wait for the gasket kit before I can take the rest :) Also took some parts from the old carb that were in a little bit better shape :) Over to the top ;) Used a little electrician inspired "lock clip" :P Think I got the springs right to, by comparing to the old carb and photos:) Just to wait for gaskets then  3 Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
16.11.15 Got a little work done last weekend, but have used alot of my time moving into a new apartment closer to school and work this week :) So will mostly just get time to work on the car in the weekends since the datsun still stands at home :/ But will probably get alot of time to order parts in the meanwhile tho ! haha :D Cleaned the rest of the parts and mounted what I could without the gaskets on the carb last weekend :) (haven't ordered a gasket kit yet, but haven't found anything in the short time I have looked for it :/ but will look more soon ! :)) 7 But got the gasket kit for the engine for a while ago from USA ! :) really happy with the shipping speed to ! Nice to have a complete gasket kit lying around :) So started scraping off the old gasket for the oil pan and put on a new one 7 Have also looked for som heat recistant blue paint, but none of the stores I visited had it :hmm: but think I might know about an online shop that sends from Norway that has it :) so probably won't take so long with the shipping either  Quote Link to comment

tekkjosen
I would use a heavy duty paper clip or a coat hanger over that twisted copper wire bundle Thought it wasn't so much "pressure" / movement on it that I needed something more solid, so used just the first thing I found. But will mabye upgrade that later, thanks for advice ;) Quote Link to comment

tekkjosen
23.11.15 (Part 1) Got some work done this weekend :) Used much of the day to look for parts and finding part no. on what I needed, and then I sent an email to Jp-carparts to see if they have anything of it :) Then over to the garage  Tightened the oil pan first. Wanted to clean and paint the engine mounts, so started with that :) Painted with anti corrision primer :) Wanted to paint over with white, but found out I didn't have any paint left :/ (bought a can today after school :) ) So began with grinding the rusty floor in the back under the seats, so covered up the windows so I wouldn't get steel bits in the glass that later would rust :) Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
(part 2) Only got time for the half of the floor :) ' Also went over knocking a screwdriver to the floor to look for weak spots.... And I did find some.... Took of the doorpanel And covered up and made it ready for painting :) The next day :) Have borrowed my mothers space in the garage for now, but have come some snow lately and are freezing on the windows in the morning when the car stands outside, but luckily it was place for the datsun in the middle, so moved it there the next day before I went down again to the apartment :) It also stands ready for pulling out the engine from this position to ! Hope I will get time for that next weekend, and putting the L16 back in as fast as I get all the parts :) Brought the head cover with me down at the apartment yesterday, and bought some black caliper paint and some fine paintbrushes today, so will try to get time to paint on the stripes on the cover this week :) Also found a store I could buy heat recistant blue paint from, found it on their homepage and the nearest store for me was just a few km away, so went up there with the dax today, but couldn't find the store... went back home and checked the homepage again and found a number to call, so called that and found out they layed down a few years ago, but they could still order the paint for me ! :) so he could have it in the shop already tomorrow ! :D so will go get that when it arrives and hopefully paint the engine to the weekend  1 Quote Link to comment

Girls wheel I just got some SSR 15x7s this weekend Haha, I thought they looked awesome ! :D Have found some wheels that are for sale here in norway to, looked great but don't have the money yet to buy :/ Think this would have looked good on the datsun with white centers ! :D 1 Quote Link to comment

tekkjosen
06.12.15 (part 1) Continued on the engine last weekend :) Finished painting the block and the engine mounts  The engine block and garage were so cold so the tape I used to cover with wouldn't attach on the engine, so not good for the paint either, but heated it up alittle and got some heat in the garage as well, still alittle to cold for the paint, but tried anyway :) So started to cover up the engine Then over to the painting  Liked the color alot actually, really strong and bright blue color ! :) Also painted the engine mounts while I covered the engine. Liked the blue and white color combination on the engine :) Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
(part 2) Also cleaned the top cover alittle more before painting, was some remains from the polishing down in the letters And then I brought it down with me to the apartment again after the weekend, but ended up with don't getting the time to paint it down there so took it with me back home again :P But started on it yesterday again :) Used our bathroom where it was nice and warm to paint the stripes  Also I wasn't to serious about the taping, since I was only going to paint the lowest levels, so thought I could use sandpaper to clean the mess :) Took it up to the garage and went over with a sandpaper Engine had hanged since last weekend, so took off the tape and plastic and looked at the result :) Was actually heading more for a blue and white engine, but used what I had when I painted the oil pan, went out a bit colorful, but thought it looked good :P Also got my clutch disc and oil filter from Jp-carparts this weekend !! So put on the new oil filter :) Also mounted the head cover :) Quote Link to comment
tekkjosen
(Part 3) Wanted to try to get out the screw that snapped off on the manifoil as well :) So drilled a hole and used this tool to screw it out with, (not sure what it's called in english ;) ) First time I've tried it :) But sat stuck as shit ! had to use this HEAVY DUTY pipe wrench to turn it around and finally loosen it :P But finally got it out ! :) Excited to get it in the car soon ! :D New and old clutch disc : Didn't like this so much on the new disc tho :/ (doesn't have anything to say i think, but have enough rust already so don't want it on new parts hehe :P Started preparing to take out the engine yesterday to :) Took off some wirings, fuel line, and poured out the coolant and removed the radiator :) Hopefully I will get time to put on the flywheel and clutch and pressureplate tomorrow before I leave down to the apartment again ! :) Will also continue taking out the engine tomorrow :) 1 Quote Link to comment
Lockleaf
Damn dude, hell of a wrench! When I have to get that angry with a stuck bolt, I pretty much always end up breaking the removal tool off. That valve cover is looks freaking great though. Coming together very nicely. 1 Quote Link to comment
