20151004_123756_zps3z6grpcs.jpg

All the bolts went off pretty nice uncept for one, didn't use force at all but one of the bolts on the top of the intake manifoil snapped off :/

Didn't think it looked all to nice under the manifoil :P

20151004_125539_zpstgs2qcod.jpg

Noticed a crack in the upper corner on the exhaust manifoil, had broken off a bit... Don't know if it is because I have lifteed the engine from there or if it have been like that all the time, but will either let it be like that, or mabye take the exhaust from my L14 :)

But didn't like the look of this inside the intake, looks like it have been a spider nest or something there

Didn't dare to put my finger down there to see if it was lying anything there (can't stand spiders )

But talked with some friends, I thought I might had to take off the top to get it real cleaned up, but got told that it would be fine :) So will mabye try to just spray some fuel in and turn the engine a couple off times and change the oil :) So hope that's good ? :)

Then over to the cleaning :)

Went over with a steel brush to get rid off all the oil and dirt :)

20151004_154230_zpshg1o1asl.jpg

I've decided I want to paint the engine block, but not all sure what color yet :) Want to have white details on the blue car, but don't think it will be so nice with a white engine block, and I don't think it will be white for a very long time either :P  But thought of mabye paint it blue, black or mabye a dark grey ? :) Any suggestions ? :D Pretty sure I will have som black details on the top cover tho :)

If I get time tomorrow I will test some colors on the top cover and block on photoshop

20151004_154237_zpscdzhw4om.jpg

Finished the top, and scraped off most off the gasket leftovers from the manifoil :)

20151004_154301_zpsbl4aciqp.jpg

Was some thick oil stored down with the distributor, wondered if this could be a gasket that's failing or if it is normal ? :)

Thought it would look nice with this cover painted as well :)

20151004_162137_zpsmotudzwd.jpg

Also I wondered if anyone have seen "scratches" like this in the engine before ? Could this be under the manufacturing ? Just don't hope something have loosened and been thrown around in there :)

Removed some of the water hoses, that I think I will replace as well :)

Took off the oil filter, Should probably replace that while I'm at it ? :P

Have done some quick tests on photoshop as well, to get an idea of how the paint would look like :)

It's especially two styles I like on the top cover

This :

photoshop%20toslashpp%202_zpsk7d8n7m4.jp

And this :

photoshop%20toslashpp%205_zpst7ct5dez.jp

What do you guys think of them ? or any other suggestions ?  :D

Tested out on the block as well :

Think mabye I will go for the one with black block and blue details, or with blue block and black details :)

Original :

20151006_194713_zpsd3yoswbh.jpg

Motorblokk%20svart%202_zpsob2xxl1q.jpg

Think the blue will be some darker if I paint it :)

Motorblokk%20svart%206_zpsotn5jiy2.jpg

And some other suggestions :P :

Motorblokk%20svart%203_zpsgl2ogaeg.jpg

Motorblokk%20svart%205_zpsxmha8jxl.jpg

Motorblokk%20svart%204_zpsw86etpxs.jpg

Won't be so easy to see on the sides, but if I go for blue or black details I will paint some details on the front cover as well :)

I like valve cover option number 2 with the black down in the grooves.

If you go blue go stock blue because why not? I don't like black personally because if I end up with leaks they are harder to trace. Silver or charcoal would also look really good.

pretty sure this is excess casting having been ground off

looking good!

i vote blue!

or silver

Ahh, what I was hoping for !   Good to hear, thanks :)

Didn't think to paint it silver, I do have some heat resistant grey (ish) paint leftovers from the husky motor I painted this winter.

Color looks like this :

20150222_144912_zpsigvekppb.jpg

But think I will like to have a contrast between the block and top, so heading more for the blue now :)

If I go for blue, I think I will just buy some from the store here if I don't have any. And with not so many options here when it's heat resistant I think I just will take the lightest blue, could probably get mixed one that looks like the original, but a light blue would be fine for me (and cheaper :P) :)

Forgot to think about leaks on the black surface, other than that you wouldn't see dirt so quick hehe. So thanks for the heads up ! :)

Purchased some fender mirrors from the US a while ago, and got it in the mail a couple of days ago, thought I had paid for 1 pair, but was only 1 mirror in the package, so must have misunderstood.
Ordered a new one now so have to pay twice for the shipping   <_<  Not the cheapest from US to Norway...

Yeah, ended up with that   wanted something else than blue all over, and wasn't sure if I should use heat resistant or not. So took the color i had in heat resistant :) Might not be the best color combo, but easy to spot leaks and might not get so ugly fast as if it was white :)

I'm not all sure about the engine, but the husky has a "MV Agusta" badge on the frame, But when I opened it this winter I could only see husky logos and names inside, so I think it's and engine that husqvarna produced :) Might be cagiva engines in bigger bikes :) (?)

Working slow on the carb to find out what all the different screws are for and how it works :) and I'm taking alot of pictures to have when i'm gonna put it back together again :D

Using time to clean out all the "passages" in the carb (not sure if this is the right word :P) Pressed the accelration pump yesterday and it's stored some goo in there as well, so will run through new petrol in that and other places  :)

20151026_223218_zpslzanpdsi.jpg

Going to buy a gasket kit for the carb, but struggling to find the model name of the carb. so many different types of Nikki carbs and can't find any part number on it. Have found exatly the carb I got on ebay, but doesn't say any name other than Nikki there either as I can find.

Maybe some of you know the model name for this ? or any gasket kits that fits ? :D

Here's the one I found on Ebay if that can help : http://www.ebay.com/itm/1239-BRAND-NEW-CARBURETOR-DATSUN-610-710-720-ENGINES-L18-Z20-1973-1986-/141283426964?fits=Make%3ANissan

Edit : Think I found the part number like 2 minutes after I posted this haha :D
16010-NK2445 and / or 16010-13W00

Will look more for the gasket kit tomorrow, but if anyone knows where to get it I would be grateful for help :)
